The expo will feature 500 exhibitors with up-to-date information on academic and career development. We will introduce Habitat’s Global Village short-term volunteer program to students, educational institutions, professional bodies and the public. Global Village provides people from all walks of life with an unforgettable experience. By contributing their own labour on Habitat builds in China or overseas, Global Village volunteers will experience the joy of receiving more than they give. 三八婦女節 姊妹們動起來 Gearing Up to Build on Women’s Day 今年是三八婦女節100週年， 3月份的大澳棚屋復修及社區發展計劃特別以婦女日為主題，招募各界 女性義工日一起戴上安全帽﹑拿起鐵鎚，集合女人最強力量，為大澳居民修茸棚屋。 To celebrate the centenary of International Women’s Day in March 2011, HFH China will mobilize women volunteers who will don hard hats and swing hammers to restore stilt houses for the elderly residents of Tai O.
大澳棚屋設計比賽 Tai O Stilt House Design Competition 全港中小學生熱烈參與，發揮豐富創意，設計出多個棚屋模型。我們在121個參加單位中將選出多個最佳獎項，得獎作品將於4月10-14日 假荷里活廣場展出，於10日更會舉行盛大頒獎禮，孩子們的心思創意，等你來見證支持。 More than 120 creative stilt house models by Hong Kong students and the winning designs will be exhibited from April 10th to 14th at the Plaza Hollywood. 大澳棚屋復修及社區發展計劃 2010-2013
Tai O Stilt House Restoration and Community Development Project 2010 - 2013 2010年10月至2011年1月 義工日回顧 Review of Volunteer Builds from October 2010 to January 2011 為期三年的大澳棚屋復修及社區發展計劃於2010年5月正式展開， 致力為大澳的長 者及有需要家庭修茸棚屋，改善生活環境及協助大澳社區發展，計劃至2013年， 總共完成88間棚屋及12條鄰舍通道的復修工程，及一系列區內發展項目。 Launched in May 2010, the Tai O Stilt House Restoration and Community Development Project represents a 3-year commitment by Habitat for Humanity China to restore the homes of elderly families and low-income families in Tai O, on the southwest coast of Lantau island, near the international airport, revitalize the community and build a scalable model for sustainable development. Restoration work on 88 stilt houses, 12 neighborhood walkways and community development projects is expected to be completed by 2013.
義工們深切體會了“基層”的需要 在天朗氣清的10月29日至11月1日, 我們展開了第3次復修工 程，更得到多間機構的鼎力支持，包括昆士蘭按揭保險﹙亞 洲﹚有限公司 , 富國銀行, Citrix System Asia Ltd., Citi Foundation, 瑞安海鷗社及3位以個人名義參加的義工。他 們共組成了60人的義工隊，修茸了4間棚屋及一條鄰舍通路 。他們用雙手，用汗水為大澳的居民翻新了地板，復修牆身 和門前簷蓬等，甚至走到棚屋的底層去穩固房屋的結構，真 正體會了從最“基層”的角度去檢視生活。 Good weather marked the third volunteer build in Tai O which took place from October 29th to November 1st, We received the enthusiastic support of corporations and groups including QBE Mortgage Insurance (Asia) Limited, Wells Fargo Bank, Citrix System Asia Ltd., Citi Foundation and Shui On Seagull Club. Together with 3 individual volunteers, a total of 60 volunteers joined hands to restore 4 stilt houses and a neighborhood walkway. Beads of perspiration hung from the volunteers’ faces as they worked hard to renovate the floor, fix the walls with holes or cracks and repair the panels on roof canopies, etc. Under the supervision of professional builders, some volunteers even went underneath the stilt houses to strengthen the structure. Working below the stilt houses can be likened to having gained an understanding of the needs of the grassroots people.

By building a safer home for the families in need, they also built team spirit and good relationships with fellow colleagues.

CBRE Charity Golf Day, Thanks golfers for the good swings!
2010年12月10至12日義工日，我們繼續得到一班熱心的義工支持，他們分別來自 俊和發展集團、利豐慈善基金有限公司、Waggener Edstrom、富國銀行及 Barclays Capital， 一行91人，在三天內共修茸了4間棚屋，受惠住戶都說，很喜 歡這份實用的聖誕禮物。是次活動更首次有中學加入，24名來自聖士提反書院的 學生、老師及家長，為復修用的木板打磨、掃漆及上油；他們更探訪了數家住戶 ，送上親自準備的禮物及獻上聖誕詩歌。感激義工們的付出， 令大澳今年的聖誕 添上了更多溫暖及歡樂。 We have continuously received support from enthusiastic volunteers to participate in our builds in Tai O with one held successfully from December 10th to 12th, 2010. A total of 91 volunteers from Chun Wo Development Holdings Limited, Li & Fung (1906) Foundation Limited, Waggener Edstrom, Barclays Capital restored 4 stilt houses during the 3-day build. The home partners were grateful that their homes could be spruced up in time for Christmas. Twenty students from St. Stephen’s College with 4 parents and teachers also joined in, marking the first such volunteer build with college students in Tai O. They helped prepare construction materials by coating layers of water-resistant paint on the logs of wood that will be used as the stilt houses’ frame and structure. The students also visited the elderly families and sang Christmas carols. Thanks to all the volunteers, the elderly residents in Tai O have received much warmth and joy last Christmas.

全球首屈一指的物業顧問服務公司--世邦魏理仕，於 2010年12月13日舉行了慈善高球日，當日賽事完滿舉行, 得到約三十名CBRE客戶鼎力支持及參與, 共籌得 HK$270,000善款。所有善款將撥作大澳棚屋復修及社區 重建計劃之用。仁人家園感激CBRE對香港社區的關懷及 支持,令更多有需要的人生活得以改善。 CB Richard Ellis , a leading international real estate services company, has held a charity golf day on 13 December, 2010. With nearly 30 golfers joining us on the day, CBRE successfully raised over $270,000 for HFH China “Tai O Stilt House Restoration and Community Development Project”. Thanks CBRE on their commitment and support to community services in Hong Kong, so the lives of those in need can be improved.

Releasing Annual Report to Applause for Habitat’s Work in the Past Year
2011年1月29日，贊助商瑞安建業一行50多人， 連同一班聖士 提反書院的學生，在充滿濃厚傳統新年氣氛的大澳，為13戶長 者親手製造新年裝飾, 為他們的家大掃除及送上賀年揮春。雖然 當日天氣異常寒冷，但仍不減義工們的熱情，他們落力為房屋 打掃之餘，更與住戶有說有笑，新年喜氣洋洋的氛團，預早降 臨到大澳。瑞安建業一班工程人員更貢獻他們的專業知識，為 計劃在大澳開展的排污系統及太陽能裝置工程作實地考察及評 估，為日後的社區發展項目提供了專業實用的意見。 On January 29th, 2011, 60 volunteers from Shui On Construction and Materials Limited and St Stephen’s College helped 13 elderly families to prepare for the Lunar New Year by cleaning and decorating their stilt houses in Tai O. The volunteers also presented festive food and traditional wall couplets with Chinese calligraphy. Although the weather was quite cold, the volunteers were passionate in bringing happiness to the Tai O community. A group of construction specialists from Shui On especially conducted on-site inspection and assessment for the third phase of Habitat’s 3-year project in Tai O, which ncludes the installation of an adequate sewerage system and introduction of solar energy solutions. The construction specialists provided valuable advice for Habitat’s future community development project in Tai O.

為了讓更多香港人關注大澳的貧窮住屋問題，仁人家園 舉辦了首屆校園同心建家園大澳棚屋設計比賽，鼓勵全 港學生了解大澳棚屋居民的居住環境及需要，並運用創 意，為居民構想一個簡單﹑安全又合適的棚屋。比賽已 於2010年12月截止報名。是次比賽反應熱烈，我們共收 到121個來自中小學兩組的3D模型設計，現階段，評分 工作正進行得如火如荼，你更有機會一同參與，投選你 最喜愛的設計！密切留意網站公佈的詳情及4月10日假 荷里活廣場舉行的頒獎禮及作品展覽。 What is your dream “homes of stilts”? --- Stilt House Design Competition To raise awareness of the poverty housing problem in Tai O, Habitat for Humanity China organized the first Tai O Stilt House Design Competition for students in Hong Kong. Students are encouraged to use their creativity to design an ideal stilt house that is safe, decent and proper to meet the needs of Tai O residents. Following the December 2010 deadline for submitting entries, we have received a total of 121 designs in 3-D from the primary school group and secondary school group. While judging is currently in progress, you will have a chance to participate and vote for your favorite design! Please visit our website at www.habitatchina.org for more details.
