Habitat for Humanity China-Shanghai has completed phase four construction of the Shanghai Age-friendly Housing Project. 77 volunteers contributed 462 working hours to refurbishing homes for 13 elderly families, making their daily life a lot easier.
On 9 November 2011, 8 senior managements from CIGNA, including International Expatriate Benefits CEO, Mr. Andrew Kielty, and CIGNA International Health Insurance Vice President, Mr. Kenneth Vaughan, participated in this project. That day, they helped in repainting the walls, doors and windows, and had lunch with the family they served. “Through partnering with Habitat, we can bring our staff closer to the community and able to serve the people in need,” said Mr. Kielty.
CIGNA has donated USD22,500 to the project which will be completed by 2012.
In 2012, Habitat for Humanity China will help 60 families from this project .
