The Law and Transition …What this means for families Kate Whittaker Public Law Solicitor Scott-Moncrieff & Associates Kate Whittaker is a public law solicitor specialising in community care, mental health, mental capacity, disability discrimination, education and human rights law.
In this workshop, Kate will be covering the legal framework that surrounds young people with learning disabilities and their rights to health and social care, further education and housing and look at what this means for young people and families. The workshop will enable attendees to explore some of the common dilemmas that families face when making decisions within the various legal frameworks with or on behalf of young people with learning disabilities, especially within the context of public sector cuts. She has acted for individuals and organisations in relation to a variety of cases, including helping patients and vulnerable individuals obtain health and community care support and appropriate education provision from the NHS, local authorities and social services.
