On behalf of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, welcome to our 38th Annual Conference, “Championing Hispanic Higher Education Success: Reaching New Heights of Excellence and Equity.” We are excited to be hosting our Annual Conference in Colorado, a state with a significant number of Hispanic-Serving Institutions and emerging HSIs and a robust history of Hispanic culture and demography. We are delighted to bring back our conference to this beautiful state, and for the first time host it in the city of Aurora. We are thankful to all who have joined us and look forward to the outstanding workshops, networking and celebrations taking place at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center.
The Opening Plenary features a welcome by Mayor Mike Coffman, and an update on the State of HACU. The International Plenary will address the important topic of “Fostering Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation in Cross-border Education.” Our Town Hall will feature a panel of experts on “Addressing the Impact of Anti-DEI Policies on Higher Education and Student Success.” We also have various pre- and post-conference events and meetings, which will include participants from the HACU Leadership Academy/La Academia de Liderazgo and Enlace midlevel leadership program who will be among the attendees at the conference.
The general conference features more than 50 workshops in seven tracks. HACU will also recognize individuals, institutions and organizations making a difference in Hispanic higher education and who support the Association’s work in special ways We will celebrate and recognize these 2024 honoree accomplishments and contributions during our luncheons. We extend our thanks to those institutions and partners sponsoring students to be part of the HACU ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute (Student Track), which gives college students access to workshop sessions and networking opportunities created to bolster their leadership acumen and future career opportunities.
The activities taking place over the next few days will provide timely, important information and research findings on higher education, along with opportunities to meet and network with academics, administrators and staff from colleges and universities across the country and beyond. The conference workshops and pre- and post-conference events address topics relevant to HSIs, emerging HSIs and Hispanic-Serving School Districts, as well as those organizations and institutions who partner with them.
Thanks to our sponsors, partners, exhibitors, advertisers, and the Host and Advisory Committee in Colorado for their vital contributions which are invaluable to making the conference a great success. We are most grateful for the input, participation and support of HACU’s Governing Board and the Corporate and Philanthropic Council, providing invaluable leadership and guidance to ensure the success of our conferences and HACU’s work. And we thank you, conference participants, for joining us in championing Hispanic higher education success this year and in the years to come.
Cordially,
Antonio R. Flores President and CEO Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities
On behalf of the Governing Board of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, I am pleased to welcome you to HACU’s 38th Annual Conference in Aurora, Colorado. This year’s conference offers an extensive selection of opportunities to learn and connect with individuals dedicated to student success in college and beyond higher education.
The 13th Deans’ Forum on Hispanic Higher Education will address the topic “Leveraging Transformational Programs to Support Excellence and Equitable Outcomes,” kicking off the start of the pre-conference events, followed by the Second Women’s Leadership Symposium. The 10th PreK-12/Higher Education Collaboration Symposium will feature two panel sessions along with the 23rd Latino Higher Education Leadership Institute under the theme, “Utilizing High Impact and Equitable Programs to Achieve Organizational Excellence,” addressing topics helpful to those seeking to reach the upper ranks in higher education administration.
An important element of our conference is the HACU ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute (Student Track), bringing college students studying a broad range of academic disciplines to participate in career and leadership development activities. We are always happy to welcome our students from universities nationwide.
A very popular part of the Annual Conference is the Exhibit Hall, offering networking, career and educational advancement opportunities. The Exhibit Hall will be open to the public on Saturday for a College and Career Fair as part of our local community outreach, providing helpful information for students and their families.
Our sponsors, partners, exhibitors, and advertisers have always been instrumental in making this gathering possible and they deserve our gratitude for their support and the numberless ways in which they help us champion student success. The conference is an excellent way to learn and be inspired by all our champions of Hispanic higher education success and is sure to reinvigorate our commitment to serve all our students!
Sincerely,
Mike Flores Chair, HACU Governing Board

Dominion Energy joined with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) to launch the Building Hispanic Talent Initiative in 2022. This $2 million-dollar, three-year initiative will develop Hispanic leaders in the clean/renewable energy industry.
The idea for this initiative began in 2020, when Dominion Energy identified a need to increase the number of Hispanic employees in the energy sector. We got to work to create opportunities for Hispanic students to learn more about energy careers.
“All students should have access to a quality education and be provided with the skills to achieve exciting new career opportunities,” said Carter Reid, executive vice president and chief of staff for Dominion Energy. “This is a step toward improving equity for Hispanic students and increasing diversity in STEM careers.”
Carter Reid
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF OF STAFF
FOR DOMINION ENERGY
The Building Hispanic Talent Initiative provides funding to seven participating post-secondary institutions to work with HACU to implement a Summer Bridge program for pre-college students. It offers a seven-week educational opportunity for up to 60 high school students (9th-12th grade) at each participating institution, impacting more than 1,250 students and their families.
In addition to promoting careers in energy, the initiative also allows students to experience life on a university campus. Each student receives credit in college-level courses in engineering, business, cybertechnology and biotechnology.
This initiative builds on our HBCU Promise ® which committed $25 million to support eleven historically black colleges and universities over six years. Programs such as these allow us to continue building a world class workforce.

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities is the only national education association representing existing and emerging Hispanic-Serving Institutions.
HACU represents more than 500 colleges and universities in the United States, Latin America and Spain. Members also include school districts throughout the U.S. and organizations and individuals from national and international institutions who are committed to HACU’s mission of Championing Hispanic Success in Higher Education.
HACU’s advocacy spans PK-12 to graduate school and into the workforce of tomorrow.
Since 1986, HACU has served its members and the nation by:
Promoting the development of member colleges and universities; Improving access to and the quality of post-secondary educational opportunities for Hispanic students; Meeting the needs of business, industry and government through the development and sharing of resources, information and expertise.
If you are an employer looking for a diverse pool of job candidates from Prek-12 to Higher Education, the HACU ProTalento Job Board can make your search easier. The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), was founded in 1986 by higher education institutions with a high number of Hispanic students. Today, HACU serves as a resource for the education sector, organizations and companies seeking diverse candidates.
One of our mission pillars is to meet the needs of business, industry and government through the development and sharing of resources, information and expertise. The HACU ProTalento Job Board can help companies find qualified candidates and diversify their workforces.
Be among the Hispanic-Serving Institutions advocating for the higher education success of one of the nation’s youngest and fastest-growing populations as we gather in Washington, D.C., to shape and promote an agenda for Congress and the country at the Annual National Capitol Forum of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU).
Register for this powerful national platform for winning public- and privatesector support for Hispanic higher education. Delegation visits to Capitol Hill with key members of the House and Senate are part of the agenda.
