Winter Cycling with Hadleigh Cycling Club

Whilst it is tempting to keep the bike in the shed until the Spring or join a spin class, it can be fun and exhilarating to ride outdoors over the Winter. HCC cyclists will be out and about weather permitting.

Here are a few handy tips for winter riding:

1. Check the weather. Beware of ice so avoid early mornings and late afternoons if it is forecast.

2. Make sure you’ve got a decent windproof jacket and gloves and waterproofs if showers are expected.

3. You’ll need a set of lights if you’re out early doors or after 4pm. Don’t buy the cheapest.

4. Mudguards are handy if you’re riding in a group.

5. There are tyres which are virtually puncture-proof and they are definitely worth the investment.

6. Get your bike serviced. And remember to protect yourself at all times.

Hadleigh CC members participated in races at the UCI World Masters CycloCross Championship 2022 held at the Suffolk Showground in December including our Treasurer Nick Webber and our Juniors, Evie, Aaron, Charlie and Ciaran.

The Club runs a social ride on Sundays usually starting at 9.00am from The George and there is a café stop. Currently, we’re also running regular rides on Fridays (women).

The rides are weather dependant so, if in doubt, check our Facebook page @hadleighcyclingclub Twitter @HadleighCycling or www.hadleighcyclingclub.co.uk
