Introduction The increasingly globalised and interconnected world of the 21 st century requires that education takes place beyond the borders of the classroom and one way to achieve this is the use of modern mobile devices, the most popular of which, so far, seems to be the iPad. The iPad is a cool versatile tool with a huge potential in education. Its popularity is constantly growing due to a number of its unique features: 

It is a device capable of providing enhanced ebooks featuring text, images, video and audio.

It uses touch screen technology which most pupils are already or currently becoming familiar with.

Its light weight, portability and ease of use make it easier to use in the classroom than a laptop or netbook.

It provides a limitless amount of information easily accessed through loads of reference applications for facts, questions, statistics, articles, dictionaries, data and many more.

It can be used collaboratively for the creation of stories, games and other content by the teachers or the students themselves.

In this booklet, it is described how the iPad can be integrated into the classroom and a number of applications are suggested for various teaching purposes.

Finally, a number of resources are provided for

further studying by teachers who are interested in discovering more uses of the iPad for specific purposes.
