Each month our Director of Golf, Mark Steinbauer, will host two Supervised Practice Sessions as part of the Supervised Practice Series
This is an area that is very important to the success of the project. Lessons don’t take the place of practice, they just make it worthwhile. With that said, most of the time students are practicing, we need to COACH them and make sure they are practicing the correct things. This is not teaching. We want to reemphasize what skills they are working on, Supervised practice is all about giving feedback to the student in a positive way. Encourage the student and give feedback with either training aids, video, verbal cues etc to make sure their time practicing is correct. What works for one student doesn’t automatically work for another. We have to follow the CHART to be consistent with the PLAN. We teach a little, but we COACH a lot. This area of practice will make or break our success. We will make sure we are making the right environment for the students to learn. Some need privacy, some need a right to left wind, some need to be on the tees etc. We want to build on successes. At all times, the charts for each student is placed behind the student. The chart gives us all the Plan we are going to follow.

• Have trouble taking the range swing to the course. Whenever we hear the swing on the range isn’t showing up on the course, it can usually be attributed to practice habits that don’t simulate the performance environment of the course. Drills for Skills will provide activities that introduce pressure and variability that will better prepare you to take the range game to the course.

M AY 2 0 Lower your scores fast! Nothing is worse than wasted shots around the green, so if you’re short game is inflating your handicap, make plans to attend the Short Game School in May. The curriculum for the Short Game School will focus exclusively on the Scoring Shots - all played from 100 yards and in: Distance Wedges, Finesse Wedges, Putting, & Bunker Play. On average, these shots represent 60-65% of the shots played in a round. But they are often the low hanging fruit on the path to lower scores. Players will make drastic scoring improvements in a short period of time through a better understanding of the Short Game fundamentals.
