Happenings from the Chief DOUG EGLY

Chief Executive Officer

Dear Member On behalf of the entire Haig Point staff, and myself, I would like to wish you a peaceful holiday season and a promising New Year. The Club provided members with a bountiful Thanksgiving Dinner last month. One hundred and forty members dined at the Clubhouse and eight families were delivered dinners at their homes. We have several holiday events this month beginning with a tree lighting at the Clubhouse on December 2, the Lighthouse lighting and cruise on December 8, Christmas Eve mass at 6:00 p.m., and concluding the month with our New Year’s Eve Gala. The Haig Point 2018 calendars have been placed in homeowner’s cubbies at the Mansion. Members not owning a cubby will receive calendars via regular mail by the second week in December. I believe the most welcomed news by members is that beginning Jan 1, 2018 Haig Point will return to a FULL Ferry Schedule. The ferries will depart every hour from Hilton Head and Haig Point Embarkation: 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on the Hilton Head side; and 6:30 a.m.

p a ge | 2

to 11:40 p.m. on the Haig Point side. A reminder that a holiday schedule will run beginning Dec 20, 2017 providing additional ferry runs during the holiday season. On November 20, we announced the new Haig Point Mobile App available on iPhone and Android. I encourage you to download the app and take advantage of this great addition to our services. Begin by searching the app store for “ClubEssential.” Download and install app using haigpoint as the Club ID and your website username and password to complete login. Visit the Membership Cottage if you have any questions or email info@haigpoint.com. After much discussion and thought, the Board and I have decided it is time for Haig Point to be represented by its own real estate company. A broker-in-charge, and team of agents, will be assigned to selling Clubowned properties. They will begin representing Haig Point on January 1, 2018. I will correspond with the membership once we have details finalized. I wish you and yours a safe holiday season.

Doug Egly, CEO

Equestrian I

t was a fun-filled and productive Thanksgiving season at the Equestrian Center with the new Community Center nearing completion and many riders enjoying the cooler weather (horses too!). Per the club calendar, we will be postponing the dedication ceremony and dining event to a new time this winter. Thank you everyone for understanding the necessity of the change. We are also proud of Haig Point's young riders who participated in our Fall Schooling Show and had a chance to taste what competition is all about.

If you are considering making horseback riding a part of your lifestyle here on the island, we encourage you to sign up for that first lesson! We have horses for all levels of riders and we would not want anyone to miss out on this unique amenity here at Haig Point. Give us a call to book a lesson or trail ride and take advantage of this beautiful fall/winter season!

Equestrian CO N T I N U E D. . .

With the holiday season underway, it is time to start thinking about our Deck the Stalls Competition that begins December 4th and culminates with a reception and awards at 5:30 p.m. on December 21st at the Equestrian Center. Last year's competition was a blast and the barn looked amazing and festive. Even if you don't ride, it's a great way to get to know our equine members and enjoy the barn camaraderie. The rules are listed below. Please read and contact me at rallen@haigpoint.com or 843-341-8191 to pick your horse once you have finalized a team. 1. Find three other people who have a creative streak or enjoy a good time. Teams are limited to four persons maximum. Each team member submits $10 to the Equestrian Center staff to participate (money goes to the pot for the winner!) 2. Pick or be assigned a horse available. Begin your decorating plans as you will be able to execute beginning December 4th through December 20th between the hours of 11:00 am - 12:00 pm (horses' lunchtime) and 4:00 pm 8:00 pm. 3. Read the rules below in order to comply with safety and scheduling limitations at the barn: - No decor may be in the aisle way in front of the stall during decorating. Any props or decor that are not attached to the wall may be put out the day before the judging but no

p a ge | 8

sooner. It is a trip hazard for both horse and human. - Equestrian center staff cannot aid in any of the decorating competition. All hanging and hardware must be provided and executed by participants. No exceptions. Decorate at your own risk! - Lights and outlets may be utilized but light bulbs must be on the front of the horse's stall. Remember, horses chew and are naturally curious! Please keep this in mind as you decorate, because if they can get their mouth on it, they will! - Please be respectful of lessons and horse owners that utilize the barn daily. Resume your task at another time if there are students grooming horses, vet or farriers working, or horses coming in and out of the barn. - Clean up your decorations by the first week in January. This includes removing all staples from the walls, discarding any trash, and storing decorations for future competitions. We look forward to seeing you wonderful ideas! Thank to everyone who made the barn look beautiful last year, you have created a high standard. Wishing you Happy Holidays, The Equestrian Staff
