When you are on the court next time playing doubles notice how often the tempo of the point is often set not on the serve or the service return; it is on the first shot the serving team makes after the serve. A good doubles team will make that the key shot of the point. The serving team will use the serve to set up the second shot, much like an approach shot. The returning team will try to make the serving team hit a defensive first shot.

hope everyone is enjoying the quiet time of reflection and tranquility of winter here on Daufuskie. Our staff and the horses are enjoying the respite from the heat and bugs! As there are fewer visitors and riders this time of year, if anyone is interested in grooming horses at any time during the week, they would love it and we would appreciate it. Their winter coats require more maintenance to maintain the healthy glow and shine. No horse experience needed! Just a pair of boots and a desire to learn to work with our gentle animals. COMMUNITY CENTER NEWS At the end of last year, we had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Holland and Lowcountry Vets at the Helmus Community Center for a Saturday visit. Because of the climate controlled building, the large space and the amenities it includes, the center is a perfect place to hold a monthly vet visit for members. We would like to have Dr. Holland visit monthly for those routine visits and he has asked that we gauge the interest of our members before he commits to a regular schedule. A little about his practice: "Dr. Griff Holland, Head of Medicine and Surgery, is a 2014 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from Clemson University. Following his completion of his veterinary degree, Dr. Holland worked in private practice for four years, including emergency care for one year. Dr. Holland shares his practice with his wife Dr. Heidi Holland who is also a graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Heidi Holland is a specialist in reproductive sciences for both large and small animals. The couple decided to move to the

your pet with the greatest value around." - Drs. Heidi and Griff Holland If you are interested in possibly becoming one of Dr. Griff's patients or would consider utilizing his services here on the island, please click HERE. This is not a commitment but we would like to measure the scope of interest before asking Dr. Holland and his team to come to Daufuskie regularly. For additional information about his practice, please visit their website at lowcountryvets.net. Thank you as always for your support and participation in the wonderful island community, Rachel Allen, Equestrian Director
