THE MOST IMPORTANT SHOT IN THE GAME The service return is one of the most essential shots in your next doubles match. The return needs to be consistent and aggressive at the same time. When it’s your turn to return the serve, think about these tips: 1. On wide returns, open your stance to increase your reach. 2. Hold the finish, and don’t let the racquet drop after the shot for a long second. 3. Have a specific target – hit deep to the server’s feet, wide to the outside, or lob over the server’s partner. 4. Make sure your feet are pointed at the server, not the net man. 5. Hold your racquet lower in the ready position.
