Dear Member “Best Men’s Member-Guest Invitational Ever!” is what we heard throughout the tournament. Kudos to Craig Morton, Director of Golf, and Assistant Golf Professionals, Jay Roux and Fred Denton for putting on a great event. Also to Scott Hamm, Director of Golf Course Maintenance, for an outstanding job on the course. And to all Haig Point staff responsible for making the event such a success. May is already here and staff is in gear planning our Memorial Day festivities. As customary, we will entertain members, family and guests with Haig Point’s Ice Cream Social and Lowcountry Boil. Children will enjoy ice cream and games poolside, while on the deck others will take in the Calibogue Sound and pay

TENNIS SHOP SPECIAL The Wilson Blade 98 The Blade 98 gives you bigger power and still manages to deliver the precision and feel for which the Blade series is known. This racquet features Countervail technology, which uses a special carbon layer to enhance the already impressive dampening provided by the braided Basalt/Graphite layup. The overall result is increased arm protection and less muscle fatigue. On groundstrokes, the Blade 98 delivers a smooth feel and controllable power. Big swings are rewarded with penetrating depth, and the high spin-potential delivers phenomenal command over the ball’s trajectory and depth. With incremental updates to the feel and an amazingly sleek black cosmetic, Wilson continues the legacy of this light but solid player’s racquet. A worthy demo for anyone who wants controllable power, great feel and easy access to spin.

Equestrian T
his month at the Equestrian Center we are excited to host our third annual Derby Day on May 5th from 4:00 - 9:00 pm. With this timeless equestrian tradition, we celebrate the Running of the Roses in true Haig Point style with a classy evening that is fun for the entire family. With the additional space provided by the newly dedicated Helmus Community Center, we will televise the race live in several locations at the Equestrian Center with the opportunity to dine and socialize both indoors and outdoors. Our resident bookie, Rich Silver, will be on staff once again to get the dollars rolling, so make sure to bring cash! For both ladies and gentlemen, there will a "best hat contest" to showcase your creativity and Derby spirit with prizes for winners. Lastly, we are excited to announce that our new tack shop adjacent to the Community Center will be open for purchases for equestrians of all ages. Our boutique tack store will feature gifts and items appropriate for horse owners, riders, or those who wish to purchase gift items to commemorate an experience at Haig Point. Our Derby Day event will feature a gift basket of items from our new store available to win through raffle ticket purchases the night of the event.
Please come and join us for the celebration of this timeless event. Betting begins at 4:00 pm and closes at 5:45 pm sharp. Race will be televised at 6:00 pm with dinner to follow. On Saturday, May 19th we will be hosting our Spring Schooling Show at the Equestrian Center. Our home hosted shows give our riders the opportunity to compete against equestrians from other local barns in a traditional horse show setting with classes ranging from walk/trot for our beginner riders to introduction to jumping for our more advanced riders. Classes run throughout the day beginning at 9:00 am with an awards ceremony to end the day at 3:00 pm We would love to have our members come and cheer our homegrown students and riders. Please call the Equestrian Center for more information on specific class times. Hope to see you all there!
