JAY'S GOLF TIP PUTTING BASICS It is no secret that nothing can lower your score faster than becoming a better putter. Start by reading the green and picking out a spot where you would like to aim. Set up with the ball slightly forward of center with your eyes directly over the ball. Make some practice strokes to get a feel for how hard to stroke the putt. Keep your eye on the ball as you make the stroke, do not watch the putter head. Instead of thinking about hitting the ball, think about the ball getting in the way of the stroke

- POWER FOR YOUR DEVICES Looking for a place to charge? The Wingman includes a built-in USB port for charging other devices. - HEAR DISTANCE LIKE NEVER BEFORE Powered by the free Bushnell Golf App (pairing required), the Wingman provides audible GPS distances throughout your round. The mobile app also includes these features: Score Tracking, GPS Distances, Tee Times 3D Flyovers Shop online HERE

Tennis TENNIS CLINIC SCHEDULE

THE KEY MOVE All the great players have it; the key move that starts the service motion. Do you know what it is? Take a close look at the better servers and you will see the serve usually starts with a small shoulder rotation. Even before the toss begins its movement, a small turn of the shoulders will create a bit of tension in the upper body. That tension is released as the motion begins to uncoil.

Beginning Labor Day, Monday, September 7, all clinics will revert to the regular schedule. Please see the correct schedule below.

MONDAY Daufuskie Doubles Drills 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

SUNDAY Oceanfront Trail Rides (from Melrose Stables)

8 AM and 10 AM

RIDER TIP - KEEP THOSE HEELS DOWN If you take lesson or even are out on a trail ride, "heels down" might be something you often hear. When you hear this, you may think you need to shove your heels down as far as possible, bracing into your stirrup and pointing the toe upward. Forcing your heel down will just stiffen your joints and cause you to no longer be moving with your horse but instead "locked" into a incorrect position causing your upper body to tilt forward. Leaning forward also causes your hands and arms to move in an attempt to balance as your body is no longer secure as you have lost your deep seat and straightness in your back. Instead of jamming your heels down, let your weight simply drop into your stirrups. Different riders will have differing levels of flexibility in the heel so it may not appear the same for each rider. Simply work towards having your heel below the horizontal plane of your foot in the stirrup. Letting your weight fall down into your heels vs. bracing down into your stirrup and pushing on the ball of your foot allows you to stay relaxed and lets your leg sit against your horse more comfortably and securely.
