Happenings from the Chief Dear Member To say I am happy with our progress in 2018 is an understatement. By all measures it was a banner year for Haig Point. We welcomed 46 new families to our community -- 31 property owners and 15 non-property owners. We were successful in selling club-owned real estate -- eight lots from our inventory for over $400,000. And eight new Signature Members joined Haig Point resulting in the first net growth in equity members in over a decade. We started our own real estate brokerage, Premier Properties by Haig Point, and have successfully helped members sell their homes. And in the process, we generated a new revenue stream from real estate commissions. Currently, we have five realtors on our team with over 30 listings combined. 2019 is guaranteed to be an exciting year. We are taking your member experience to the next level and our sales and marketing team is working around the clock to sell. We expect to make significant strides this year in membership growth, property sales, and new home construction. On January 19th, we’ll host the Second Annual Daufuskie Island Marathon Presented by Haig Point. This year’s race will bring over 200 runners from 16 different states. The route has
been certified by the United States Track and Field Association, making it a Boston Marathon qualifier course. Please join me in cheering on all these athletes! At the end of March, we’ll celebrate you, our members, with our Annual Spring Member Weekend. Events include a special Kids’ Night Out on Friday, March 29th and a Dinner Dance on Saturday, March 30th. As always, we encourage you to share Haig Point with your friends and invite them to join you on a visit at some point this year. Growing our club is a team effort, and your referrals are the best source of new members and the greatest compliment you can give Haig Point. Thank you for making our community such a special place.

It is the purpose of this group to raise awareness of island-wide programs and activities such as encouraging businesses to participate in Plastic Free Hilton Head and to ditch plastic drinking straws. President Mike Loftus, approaches local businesses to encourage the elimination of straws and the movement towards eco-friendly solutions for carryout food containers. So far, School Grounds Coffee, Melrose Beach Club and Daufuskie Island Rum Company have jumped on board and participated in Strawless Summer 2018. No longer being attached to New England, we found the almost perfect (bit of a fixerupper) house in Hilton Head and made an offer. The realtor called back the next day and said we had just missed getting it, but a “flipper” had purchased it and was going to do the repairs and resell it in a year. Knowing we would need to travel to Panama quite a bit, we settled for a beautiful house near the Atlanta airport and moved there in August of 2016, packing up years of life in Connecticut and making the long drive down, dogs and all.
We loved the
house but were not really feeling the traffic of Atlanta, so when our realtor called that October telling us the flipper had put that house back on the market we made the trip back to Hilton Head and put in an offer that

When we got on the boat to come over we quickly realized that this “commute” was very similar to the “excursion” that we had each paid $40 for the previous month. There was an immediate sense of relaxation just getting on the boat and my previous judgement on the “hassle” of

INTRODUCING TRACKMAN The Golf Professional Staff is very excited to announce the arrival of the TrackMan launch Monitor. The Trackman is a radar launch monitor that gives immediate information regarding a players club path, face angle, dynamic loft, attach angle, club speed, ball speed, carry distance, total distance, launch angle, smash factor and spin rate. Golf practice and player development are going through a period of tremendous change, and technology is a central component in that transformation. The mapping of swing DNA is now possible, as is the quantification and comparison of swing feel vs. real. The technology also empowers us to monitor granular swing changes over time. These are just a few, compelling examples of how to unleash talent more effectively. With TrackMan, we have all those tools to jump ahead. From the groundbreaking club and ball tracking golf radar systems to the best performance enhancing software available in the industry today. With the assistance of some very gracious Haig Point Members who helped make the Trackman possible, we are happy to introduce the latest technology in golf instruction to Haig Point. Call the Golf Professional Staff to schedule yourTrackman lesson today.
MEMBER TRIP During the first week of December, Director of Golf Craig Morton and Director of Agronomy, Scott Hamm traveled to Naples, Florida with Haig Point Members Tom Donohoe and Adam Hersch. While in the sunshine state, the group played such prestigious clubs as the Colony Golf & Country Club, the Quarry Golf Club and Talis Park Golf Club. During the trip, the PGA Tour’s QBE Shark Shootout was taking place at nearby Tiburon Golf Club. Due to relationships in SW Florida, the foursome attended the by invitation only Pairings Party where they were able to have conversations with the PGA Tour Professionals, many who have played Haig Point such as Brandt Snedeker and Graham McDowell, who both talked very highly of Haig Point and hope to return soon. left to right: Tom Donohoe, Adam Hersch, Scott Hamm and Craig Morton
