About Haileybury Haileybury is one of the leading independent schools in the Asia-Pacific region with campuses in Keysborough, Brighton, Berwick, Melbourne (City) and Beijing. The School is acclaimed for its outstanding academic achievements, small class sizes, broad range of co-curricular activities, and state-of-the-art facilities. Learning is based on the different learning styles of students, and on their gender, age, interests and potential.

With 125 years of history, Haileybury has changed dramatically, and is now one of the leading private schools in Australia. Haileybury’s mission is to develop high-achieving students, connected globally, to each other, and to the communities in which they live and which they will serve. The Parallel Education Model at Haileybury allows boys and girls to learn together in younger years, and then separately as they move into middle and senior years. Haileybury also has a strong sense of community, with links through activities that bring the School together throughout the year. Acclaimed as a great, leading independent school, Haileybury is proud of the highly successful Parallel Education Model, caring teachers, small class sizes and unmatched level of attention to each student.

Our Vision To be recognised as a great world school.

Our Mission To develop high achieving students who are connected globally, to each other and to the communities in which they live and which they serve.

Parents of students who are to be absent are asked to ring an attendance ‘hotline’ before School. Parents of students below Year 10 who have not confirmed their child’s absence by recess are contacted by phone. Students above Year 9 are required to bring a note the following day to explain absence, and discrepancies are followed up by Senior School staff. In 2017, the Attendance Rate was 94.53%.

Retention 94.78% of students in Year 12 had been in the School since at least Year 9.

Vocational and Trade Training A total of 27 students completed a Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) or an equivalent Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification in 2017.

CEO | Principal’s Comment to the Haileybury Community Dear Parents Haileybury students have achieved a stunning set of results in the 2017 Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). Three students obtained the highest possible Australian Tertiary Admissions Ranking (ATAR) of 99.95. This places them in the top 36 students out of the 60,000 in their year cohort. Lachlan Coman, Eishitha Galpayage Don and Daniel Ong each obtained this exceptional mark. As a result of scoring 99.90 Clara Charbine is the Dux of Haileybury Girls College and Lachlan, Eishitha and Daniel are the joint Duces of Haileybury College (for boys). Forty-eight percent of all Haileybury ATAR results were in the top 10% in the country with an ATAR of 90 and above. The ATAR is the ranking used by universities across Australia to allocate students to courses. One of Haileybury’s core academic aims is to have students achieve a strong ATAR so that they have a wide range of study choices available.

The percentage of Study Scores of 40 and above is a widely published measure. A Study Score of 40 means that the student is in the top 9% of the students taking that subject. An outstanding 29.5% of Haileybury Girls College Study Scores and 26% of Haileybury College Study Scores were 40 and above. Some 39 Study Scores of 50 (the highest possible) were achieved in 11 subjects. Of these results, 17 came in English and 13 in Mathematics subjects. This is the continuation of excellence in these academic streams. The 2017 VCE results further cement Haileybury’s reputation as one of the outstanding academic schools in the Asia-Pacific region. My congratulations go to all students, their families and the teaching staff. This is a wonderful collective effort. Yours sincerely Derek Scott CEO | Principal

Some 36 students (8.7%) attained an ATAR of 99 and above and 115 students (28%) attained an ATAR of 95 and above. Haileybury is proudly an open-entry school and to have 68% of all ATAR results in the top 20% in the country and 91% of students in the top 40% Australia-wide is a reflection of highquality teaching and hard-working students.
