Haileybury is a corporation limited by guarantee and operates, as a not-for-profit organisation, the following schools: Haileybury College (for boys) Reg No 1191; Haileybury Girls College, Reg No 2009; and an Early Learning Centre. As both Haileybury College and Haileybury Girls College run in parallel, sharing the same facilities and staff, this Statutory Report is common to both.

About Haileybury Haileybury is one of the leading independent schools in the Asia-Pacific region with campuses in Keysborough, Brighton, Berwick, Melbourne (City), Darwin and Beijing. Student Attendance and Retention
On Census Day, 3 August 2018, Haileybury had an enrolment of 3,927 students (Prep to Year 12), of whom 2,258 were boys and 1,669 were girls. This enrolment included 50 overseas students and 12 Indigenous students. Haileybury also had Early Learning Centre enrolments of 319 for a total enrolment of 4,246.
Attendance Attendance in Years 9-12 is taken each period and in Prep to Year 8 is taken twice a day (start and end). These are electronically recorded. Parents of students who are to be absent are asked to call/email the relevant ‘Absentee Line’ for their campus prior to 9.30 am on the day of absence. Any discrepancies are followed up by Haileybury staff. In 2018, the Attendance Rate was 95.29%.
Retention 98.3% of students in Year 12 had been in the School since at least Year 9.
Vocational and Trade Training 5.4% of Years 10-12 boys and 4.4% of Years 10-12 girls were undertaking Vocational or Trade Training (Total: 3.9%).

Student Outcomes Haileybury prides itself on its student outcomes, in particular the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). In 2018 Haileybury students achieved an exceptional set of results, with three students obtaining the highest possible Australian Tertiary Admissions Ranking (ATAR) of 99.95. 44% of all Haileybury ATAR results were in the top 10% in the country with an ATAR of 90 and above.

CEO | Principal’s Comment to the Haileybury Community Dear Parents Haileybury students have achieved another exceptional set of results in the 2018 Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). Three students obtained the highest possible Australian Tertiary Admissions Ranking (ATAR) of 99.95. This places them in the top 36 students out of the 60,000 in their year cohort. Emily Cao, Naman Chaudhry and Michael Malek each obtained this exceptional mark. As a result of scoring 99.95, Emily Cao is the Dux of Haileybury Girls College and Naman Chaudhry and Michael Malek are the joint Duces of Haileybury College (for boys). 44% of all Haileybury ATAR results were in the top 10% in the country, with an ATAR of 90 and above. The ATAR is the ranking used by universities across Australia to allocate students to courses. One of Haileybury’s core academic aims is to have students achieve a strong ATAR so that they have a wide range of study choices available. 29 students (7.2%) attained an ATAR of 99 and above and 114 students (28%) attained an ATAR of 95 and above. Haileybury is proudly an open-entry school and to have 68% of all ATAR results in the top 20% in the country and 93% of students in the top 40% in the country is a reflection of highquality teaching and hard-working students.

The percentage of Study Scores of 40 and above is a widely published measure. A Study Score of 40 means that the student is in the top 9% of the students studying that subject. An outstanding 30% of Haileybury Girls College Study Scores and 24% of Haileybury College Study Scores were 40 and above. 25 perfect Study Scores of 50 (the highest possible score) were achieved in 11 subjects, including nine in English. The 2018 VCE results continue Haileybury’s reputation as one of the outstanding academic schools in the Asia–Pacific region. NAPLAN Results In 2018, all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 undertook the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy testing. The results were outstanding and continued to show improvement from past results. The results show we are one of Australia’s leading schools in Literacy and Numeracy. The graphs below show the percentages of students at each year level who are achieving at the highest band level possible. Data published on the My School website indicates that, at all year levels, Haileybury is performing well above similar schools in most areas. Haileybury continues to work towards ensuring all students achieve at their highest possible level.

Destination Data The vast majority of Haileybury graduates chose to go onto further education, whether that be at university, TAFE or an apprenticeship. In 2018, 99% of female applicants and 91% of male applicants received a first-round tertiary offer. Eight students received offers for the highly prestigious Monash University Medicine degree, and the most popular universities continued to be Monash University and the University of Melbourne.
