Welcome Dear International VCE Conference participants Haileybury is delighted to welcome delegates to the International VCE Conference 2022. For many years now, this Conference has provided excellent opportunities for professional development to support the delivery of the VCE across South East Asia, and soon the Pacific as we welcome delegates from Vanuatu for the first time. This year, for the second time, the conference has had to move to a virtual format as the disruptions caused by the global Covid-19 pandemic continue to make international travel difficult – though we are all hopeful that these restrictions will soon ease and we can finally see each other again in person. I would like to thank Haileybury’s international team, the professional learning staff and all our mentors, and indeed all delegates for continuing to deliver excellent international education programs in challenging circumstances. Haileybury also gratefully acknowledges the extraordinary support provided to Australian transnational education by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority, the Victorian Department of Education and Training, AusTrade and GlobalVictoria. Haileybury remains firmly committed to advancing and expanding its transnational education programs into the future. The disruptions and difficulties of the last years have shown that now more than ever, there is a need for close friendship and collaboration across national boundaries. It is our responsibility to create opportunities for all of our young people to learn to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances in a fluid and challenging world. The pathways into higher education across the world created by your work in the VCE are more valuable in this than ever. I very much look forward to being able to see you again in person, whether in Australia or your own home countries. Until then, I wish you all the very best for this conference.
