Principal’s Introduction Haileybury Rendall School is now in its second year and is closely affiliated with Haileybury, which has four campuses in Melbourne and one in Tianjin, China.
Haileybury Rendall School’s program is enhanced by a strong commitment to develop in our students the life skills that are essential for living and working successfully as adults.
We pride ourselves in drawing on Haileybury’s past successes as we establish our own vision for the future. Our strong ties provide many opportunities for the community to join a broad range of activities.
Our academic and pastoral programs feature skills such as resilience, creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking. We expect all our students to leave School excited by and prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.
Students also benefit from an established international focus, which includes partner schools in Timor-Leste, the Philippines, Japan, France, the UK and the US, as well as our China campus.
We look forward to you visiting our School and becoming part of its community.
Developing and maintaining a strong academic culture at Haileybury Rendall School is a top priority. NAPLAN and Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) results consistently rate Haileybury as one of Australia’s leading independent schools. We will draw on this expertise as we develop our own academic culture and achieve high results. This academic focus will include the highly successful Explicit Model of teaching in the primary years and the VCE in the senior years.
Yours sincerely
Our School inherits a proud history of Aboriginal boarding over many years. Our commitment to Aboriginal boarding will continue to be a high priority. We hope to grow our students’ academic achievement and have upgraded one of our boarding facilities and are embarking upon upgrades to the second House.

NAPLAN Results In 2018, all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 undertook the National Assessment Program—Literacy and Numeracy testing.
The graphs below show the scores of students at each year level for Haileybury Rendall School and the Northern Territory.
The NAPLAN results were very good in that there were 16 of 20 areas that were better than those achieved by Kormilda College, the previous operators of the School, in 2017. This is especially impressive given Haileybury Rendall School had only been operating a little over a term before the students undertook the tests.

Strategies for future improvement: • Ensure quality teaching in NAPLAN years. In the Junior School we will continue to develop the explicit model. In Years 7 and 9 we will ensure that there is high quality teaching. • Middle School Modelling from Melbourne. We are seeking the support and guidance of the more experienced Haileybury Melbourne teachers.
Year 7 Students - Haileybury Rendall School & Northern Territory
•
Primary teachers in Aboriginal literacy and numeracy. Deploying primary teachers who are familiar with the explicit teaching model will be more appropriate to the needs of the Aboriginal students in lower secondary levels.
