The following information is published on the Haileybury website in compliance with Haileyburyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s obligations under national funding legislation. Haileybury is a corporation limited by guarantee and operates, as a not-for-profit organization, the following schools: Haileybury College (for boys), Reg. No 1191; Haileybury Girls College, Reg. No 2009; and an Early Learning Centre. As both Schools run in parallel sharing the same facilities and staff, this Statutory Report is common to both.

The Student Body On Census Day (6th August, 2010), Haileybury had an enrolment of 3,104 students (Prep to Year 12), of whom 1,812 were boys and 1,292 were girls. This enrolment included thirty five overseas students and three indigenous students. Haileybury also had Early Learning Centre enrolments of 258.

Student Attendance & Retention Attendance Attendance is taken twice a day and recorded electronically. Parents of students who are to be absent are asked to ring an attendance “hotline” before school. Parents of students below Year 10 who have not confirmed their child’s absence by recess are contacted by phone. Students above Year 9 are required to bring a note the fooling day to explain absence, and discrepancies are followed up by Senior School staff. The Attendance Rate was 92.87%.

Retention 91% of students in Year 12 had been in the School since at least Year 9.

Principal’s comment to the Haileybury community: The results see Haileybury as one of the leading academic schools in the State. Special congratulations go to Lynn Wang who achieved the highest possible ATAR of 99.95, placing her in the top 0.05% of students in the State. Not only were there many individual high Study Scores but the overall ATAR results for Year 12 graduates were also outstanding. The ATAR is the crucially important ranking used by universities to allocate course places. Haileybury’s program is designed to maximise this outcome for our students. The 2010 ATAR results will open up a range of opportunities for our Haileybury graduates. Over 17% of all students received an ATAR in the top 5% in the State and over 32% received an ATAR in the top 10%. The strong value-added performance of the School is highlighted by the fact that 95% of all students in the School were in the top 50% in the State. Equally significant has been student development in terms of character, cultural and sporting skills, relationships and the development of genuine life-long learning skills. The most widely published result in the media is the percentage of Study Scores over 40. The combined boys’ and girls’ result was an excellent 19% over 40. Haileybury’s 2010 graduating IB class also performed extremely well, with a median ATAR score of 86.65%, well above the international average. Haileybury’s four Chinese schools in Wuhan, Chengdu, Ningbo and Qingdao also received some excellent ATAR scores. The 2010 VCE results combined with the exceptional Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) results have made 2010 a very strong academic year for Haileybury. We look forward to building on this in 2011.

NAPLAN In 2010 all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 undertook the NAPLAN testing. The results were outstanding and continued to show improvement from past results. The results show we are one of Australiaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s leading schools in literacy and numeracy. Satisfaction Surveys Haileybury participates on a biennial basis in the full range of surveys conducted by Independent Schools Victoria (ISV). The L E A D survey (Listen, Evaluate, Act, Deliver) benchmarks Haileybury against other Victorian independent schools. In 2009 the full suite of surveys was done and will be done again in 2011. The 2009 survey highlighted the following:

Parent Satisfaction

The survey showed Haileybury parent satisfaction to be at or above the 75th percentile (top quartile) in academic achievement, teacher quality, morale, goal congruence, facilities and resources, parent and community involvement, personal and social development and transition.

Student Satisfaction

The survey highlighted very high student satisfaction. The areas where the student perceptions placed Haileybury in the top quartile of participating schools were academic achievement, teacher quality, morale and goal congruence.

Teacher Satisfaction

The survey measured teacher perception in the areas of leadership support, morale, goal congruence, peer support and professional development. Haileybury rated highly in all areas with goal congruence being in the top quartile of participating schools.
