Celebrating 70 years of achievement Andrew Whitson
n the scheme of things, 70 years Ithedoesn’t seem long. It’s a drop in ocean of time and a relatively short period in our history.
As you know, so much has happened over the past 70 years to change our world and the way we live. There have been many achievements in terms of technology, advances in healthcare and how we interact with people across the globe. There have also been changes in the way we view our lifestyle once fulltime work has finished. In the 1950s, retirement was a different proposition to the one it is today. Most retirees stayed in their large family home (which they still had to maintain) or they might have
moved in with one of their children. There was no superannuation system so for most retirees, their later years would have been funded by a modest Aged Pension. At that same time in our history, a young Hungarian immigrant named Ervin Graf had a dream to create affordable homes and communities for Australians of all ages. Those dreams have grown over the years into the company Stockland is today. For the past 70 years we’ve been paving the way, creating sustainable, thriving communities where people of all ages live, shop,work and play. Today, we own, fund, develop and manage a large portfolio of retail town centres, workplace and
logistics assets and residential and over 50s land lease communities. We are in the business of creating and curating communities where you can live active and engaged lives. At Halcyon Communities, this ethos drives what we do and we will continue to create communities that offer Australians an opportunity to enrich their lives. While we value all of our homeowners, we extend a special congratulations to those who are sharing our 70th birthday. Let’s all celebrate what we have experienced and achieved over the years.
