The comprehensive Grocery Stewardship Certification (GSC) system is based on the Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences’ Eco-Efficiency Workbook for Grocers, designed to assist store managers in systematically managing and reducing their store’s environmental footprint. Publicizing the GSC positively informs customers and community about the store’s sustainability commitment. By reducing facility environmental impact and increasing efficiencies, grocers can realize cost savings, new marketing opportunities and increased employee satisfaction. Participating managers will learn to identify how to reduce their environmental footprint in a way that works best for them.
