Yves Saint Laurent Yves Saint Laurent was a famous fashion designer in the 1960 and has been known as one of the greatest names in fashion history. He was born 1936 in August the 1 and he died 1 June 2008 from brain cancer. He grew up in Algeria on Oran but spent his life in France and got famous there. When he was young he liked to create intricate paper dolls and at the age of 10 he was designing Fashion dresses for his sisters and mother. When he moved to Paris 18 years old he participated at the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. There where his design and they quickly gained notice. There he got introduced to Christian Dior and he was the one who fascinated Yves. At age 21 Yves was the head designer of the House of Christian Dior S.A. Yves then went to the millitary for 20 years and Dior fired him from the company. When he got out he sued Dior for breach and won, and worked on his own after that. Later on he was known to be both a heavy drinker and frequent user of cocaine, and also the famous designer of course. In 1983, Yves Saint Laurent became the first living fashion designer to be honored by the Motropolitan Museum of Art with a solo exhibition. Years went by and he only got more famous and on that he came up with a make-up line named after him.
