The Barbican at Glenarm

The Barbican at Glenarm, Co Antrim, is a Grade A listed 19th century building which was conserved to provide holiday accommodation for the Irish Landmark Trust. The design provided living accommodation over four levels linked by a spiral stone staircase leading to a roof terrace with views over the surrounding area. One of the greatest challenges was integrating modern services into the historic structure of this building. The philosophy throughout was to leave as much of the original fabric as possible and to renew finishes only where necessary.
