The Hamilton Farmer’s Market runs every Saturday through November 2nd. CENTER STAGE Denise Dinski How long have you lived in Hamilton and what brought you here?

I have lived in Hamilton for 31 years. My husband was hired as a football coach for Colgate. Where do you work, volunteer, serve on boards/committees, etc.?

I am the Director of the Chenango Nursery School and I have been there for 27 years. I serve on the Advisory Board for Early Childhood Education at BOCES, am a member of National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and am a member of the Madison County Directors’ Association. I volunteer at Camp Fiver. What are your hobbies?

I love to read, scrapbook, quilt and knit. What’s one thing that people might not know about you?

I love the beach!! (Okay so maybe people already know that.) What is one event in Hamilton you never miss?

The 4th of July.

Each month, Hamilton Central School students have submitted random fun facts about Hamilton. Since it’s summer vacation, we’re giving the kids a couple months off. They’ll be back with their unique views on Hamilton in our October issue!

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

Leslie Green Guilbault Leslie Green Guilbault is a potter and bone carver from Hamilton, NY who learned the basics of wheel thrown pottery by taking elective courses as an undergraduate at the University of Notre Dame. After earning her master’s degree in English Literature, she worked as a senior administrator at Colgate University as the Bookstore Director and Director of Operations. She left Colgate in 2008 to explore the fast-paced world of contract pharmaceutical manufacturing at Norwich Pharmaceuticals, where she worked as a project manager and liaison to U.S. and international “big pharma” customers. In 2011, a deep desire to find a long term creative outlet led her back to Hamilton, where she started her own business, LGG Creative Art.

Leslie works from her home studio where she finds inspiration from the wooded landscape, rolling hills, and dramatic skies of central New York. In the past two years, she has created 7 distinct lines of pottery and a unique array of carved bone sculptures and jewelry which are sold at the Broad Street Gallery in Hamilton, Gallery 54 in Skaneateles, Decades Gallery in Sharon Springs, The Outside In Gallery in Piermont, the Earlville Opera House Gallery, and online through her ETSY shop: LGG Creative Art. Leslie received the first place Award of Distinction in Ceramics at the Syracuse Arts and Crafts Festival in July 2013, and her first solo show is currently taking place at P. Ross in Nyack, NY.
