2023 Our Commitment to Owners & Trainers
£1.64M+ Record Prize Money
£212k+ Lanark Silver Bell Fixture
£200k Sky Bet Sunday Series
£2k+ all races over BHA minimum value
The Hamilton Park Executive is delighted to unveil our strategy for prize money and our commitment to Owners, Trainers and racing staff for the 2023 season.
As we look to build on the successes of last year, we have planned the richest race programme ever at Hamilton Park, with total prize money set to exceed £1.64M. A key highlight will once again be the Lanark Silver Bell fixture on Friday 25 August which has received further investment, making it the richest raceday in our history worth £212,150, including the Lanark Silver Bell Heritage Handicap worth £100,000.
This year’s programme continues to see investment in prize money across all grades of race with a focus on adding further quality to the overall fixture list. In addition to the welcome return of the £200,000 Sky Bet Sunday Series fixture in May, we have added a number of highvalue Class 2 races to the programme, each worth between £30,000 and £50,000, whilst all races will continue to be run for at least £2,000 above the new minimum values* set by the BHA.
Following feedback from previous guests we have invested in an improved dining offer, which will see a 3 course buffet served in our exclusive Owners and Trainers Restaurant overlooking the Winners Enclosure. This will enable us to provide a wider variety of catering to our visiting Owners and Trainers, which we hope will be well received. In addition, our Owners and Trainers Bar will have a new look which will be unveiled ahead of the season, whilst celebrations for winning connections will be moved to a private lounge more in keeping with the unique experience that owning a winner can offer.
Myself, Fiona and the team are fully committed to delivering the very best raceday experience possible for all of our valued visitors and we look forward to welcoming yourself and your runners to Hamilton Park this summer.
Please note these values may change subject to funding.
*Excluding Heritage Handicaps
Lanark Silver Bell fixture to become Hamilton Park’s richest ever fixture worth £212k+.
The race for the prestigious Lanark Silver Bell became the richest race in Hamilton Park history in 2022 when it was upgraded to a Heritage Handicap worth £100,000. We’ve upgraded this year’s fixture on Friday 25 August to make it our richest ever raceday with total prize money set to exceed £212,000
£200k Sky Bet Sunday Series returns in May.
Featuring a £200,000 prize fund, our Sky Bet Sunday Series Raceday returns on Sunday 14 May following record-breaking runners and fantastic racing last year. This fixture will be broadcast live on ITV4 and will feature a card full of high-value Class 3 and Class 4 races, designed to showcase horses, trainers and jockeys who don’t often get the limelight.
Class 2 programme enhanced with two high-value Darley/EBF development races.
We are delighted to have partnered with Darley and the EBF to add two development races to our programme. Both will be Class 2 races for novices, with the first set to be run over 5f on Sunday 7 May for prize money of £40,000. The second will form part of our enhanced programme on Friday 25 August and will be contested over 11f for £50,000. In addition to these development races, we’ve also added a Class 2 sprint handicap worth £30,000 to our programme on Saturday 5 August.
Record prize money maintained for Listed EBF Glasgow Stakes. Hamilton Park’s highest-grade race of the season is the Listed EBF Glasgow Stakes, with record prize money of £55,250 maintained for this year’s renewal on Friday 21 July. West Wind Blows took the win in 2022 before going on to win the Prix du Prince d’Orange at Longchamp, joining an illustrious list of past winners who have gone on to succeed at Group level.
Record prize money of over £1.64 million including two racedays worth £200k or more
