In an inferno I find myself consumed. It gives way to smoke to invade my lungs. It buries me deep in my own ashes, half-alive though still burning. Yet the smoke is no poison to my body; it seems to be cleansing the venom ravishing my mind. And my ashes are no sign of the end of me; from them I shall be nourished, from them I shall rise. In my search for a reason to continue on breathing, I find myself, slowly yet so surely, revived. I now sense freedom, so little, so far away. No half of a half, thus constantly living on the edge. No pulling on fragile wires for what should be rightfully mine. No more thinking I should belong to any and everyone. I want to feel it in full. Need to. Is this how it feels to be lost? Should I dance to the rhythm? I might have become light enough for the wind to guide my limbs wherever it sees fit. Maybe now, I can embrace myself. It is my time to rise. I hear whispers from all around. Calling, taunting: Show me your might, Show me your light.
