2014 - 2015
First year studying BA (Hons) Fashion Concepts and Communication at Leeds College of Art. Inspired by bright colours and fun photography, the first year studying at Leeds College of Art was one in which I found my own creative style- A mixture of Graphic Design based techniques, a clean-cut modern aesthetic and most importantly a humourous approach to the fashion industry.
Marshmallow
4
Marshmallow was a brand created for a first year university project. Completely digital based, the module enhanced my interests in photography and graphic design as well as building on my Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator skills. I decided to base each photography feature created for Marshmallow’s branding on collaborative projects. For example here shows the advertisement poster created for the collaboration between Marshmallow and Coca-Cola. The glass Cola bottles would be pink and contain the ‘M.’ logo. The bottle appears to be floating whilst pouring pink “goo” to symbolise Marshmallow as a brand through the colour of pink.
5
06.
Marshmallow x Casio: the second collaborative photography feature for this project. Linking with the Coca-Cola collaboration, pink “goo” is used again to represent the brand with the watch ‘collaborating’ with it by being dipped into it. Therefore when you pull the watch out- it’s pink! This collaboration represents a limited edition line of pale pink Casio watches in collaboration with Marshmallow.

With all of these photography features I set out to create an element of magic and fun- everything’s floating and there’s pink goo, what’s not to love?

Marshmallow
To keep with the fun aspect of the Marshmallow brand design I decided to create Marshmallow credit card clothing labels. Considering the brand’s target customer I thought this would be just one successful way in immediately making the brand stand out amongst others on a shop floor as a concession.

Marshmallow The final collaboration i decided to use for this project was Marshmallow x Mykita Eyewear. For this particular collaboration with MYKITA Eyewear I would plan to make pale pink reflective lense sunglasses with optional gold or silver thin metal frame. The full collection would be released 20/06/15. This would be the finished advertisement for use on small postcards and posters.

Bauhaus: Art As Life
Bauhaus: Art As Life was a magazine style publication created for my first year Context of Practice module. The brief was to research into one of three given art topics before writing a 3000 word essay on your findings. The 56 page document was effectively a substitute for my sketchbook. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this module due to the creative way I approached something that initially could seem uninspiring.

THE BOX SERIES. A series of photographs set to minimalize the silhouette of the body: creating anamorphic simplicity with the combination of shadowplay and shape. Inspired by every aspect studied in the project so far: from Kandinsky’s colour references to Maria Elis Duque’s concept of simplifying and distorting the body shape.
A.P.C. Les Artistes
14
A.P.C. Les Artistes was a miniature collection made metaphorically for A.P.C. Created as part of a first year university module, I took A.P.C.’s main selling point- the jeans- and branded my own denim collection inspired by various artists work. I then created various advertisement packages to market the collection. These consisted of postcards in the style of Sarah Lucas’ work, stickers in the style of Sarah Crowner and jean labels in the style of Jackson Pollock. *Probably one of my favourite modules completed so far at Leeds College of Art.

2015 - 2016
Second year studying BA (Hons) Fashion Concepts and Communication at Leeds College of Art. Having established a style of my own, my second year of university has lead me to involve a more Graphic Design based aesthetic to the work I have produced.
Norhtern Powerhouse
22 The work over the next few pages comes from a module in which we worked with up and coming designer Andrew Bannister for his label Studio 805. The brief was to design and make a T-shirt for Studio 805’s A/W 16 collection: Northern Powerhouse. Taking into consideration the theme of the brief I decided to base my collection on a topic close to my heart- Manchester’s music scene. Specifically focusing on New Order’s music and Peter Saville’s graphic design, the next few pages focus on the design process and then finally the communication package created for the module and client.

wow acetate is pretty cool.
24
oh look wow there it is again.
I knew for this module that the majority of my work would be computer based. I therefore decided to create my own visual diary containing every aspect of work studied or created for this topic.
Northern Powerhouse; It’s so easy to think of the term and associate it with towering chimneys, blacked out smokey skies billowing above cobbled streets and less-than-pleasant ‘al fresco’ toilets, but as it seeks to be proven it is so much more than that. It’s brash but not rude, proud but not boastful, adament but not ignorant. It’s easy to forget the more seen-to-be trivial aspects of life that the North has brought us. It can be taken for granted that the North West of England particularly ran it’s own Music Powerhouse. It brought us clubs such as the Manchester based Hacienda that created a whole new genre and style. It was and still is at the forefront of up-and-coming modernist movements. Why is it then that this is disregarded and the North is still seen as the old fashioned, chimney loving, smokey skied stereotype? It appears to many in the South that the North has nothing to offer the UK, yet the South is assuming in it’s power- it underestimates the capabilities held by the North. The new age Northern Powerhouse seeks to address the economic imbalance, proving that the North of England has much more to offer than what is stereotypically seen of it. We stand to be proven: It ain’t grim up North.

Sharpeye is a brand created by Duffer St. George curator Barrie Sharpe. The task was a small part of an ongoing module in which we had to improve Sharpeye’s brand image. The moodboard to the right shows the visual direction in which I wanted the brand to head in. The logo seen below is my rebranded version. The illustrated record and sleeve above is part of the Merchandising board created for the brand. The record is actually an invitation to Sharpeye’s grand re-opening and if you were to play the record it would include some of Barrie Sharpe’s own DJ mixes to promote his music alongside his fashion. brand i the re n rpe Sharpe and te ha arrie he-night c li n-t ill be prov w d Mar i 2n

Project B
34 Project B was an exhibition created by second year fashion students at Leeds College of Art. I played a major part in the exhibition’s graphics, helping create the logo seen to the right and zine. The exhibition was held at Lambert’s Yard and each student had a chance to exhibit their work. The theme of the exhibition was “Define Your Identity”. You can see my work for the exhibition on the next page.
35.
Hosted by Lambert’s Yard, we invite you to Project B: a conceptual experience combining the identities of each Level 5 Fashion student at Leeds College of Art. Tied together aesthetically solely through the use of the colour black the miniature exhibition focuses on creating a collection in which you can see aspects of each student’s identity through the pieces of work they have created. Free drinks will be available on a first come first serve basis on launch night (Tues 3rd Nov) with the addition of live music performances. The miniature exhibition will be free to all and held on the top floor of Lambert’s Yard over the next couple of weeks.

When briefed with the task to create an A2 board on my identity I decided the best way to represent myself was through something conceptual, nonsensical and most importantly humorous. I therefore created my own font and came up with the wording “She’s a pineapple head.” It makes no sense, so it’s very me.

it’s personal. The following section contains work created in my spare time. From personalised cards to film photography, this is what I do for fun. Most works have been created from 2015-2016often inspired by magazine features, artist’s photography and whatever else I might see around me, this is basically as ‘me’ as it gets.
Handmade Cards

Kevin & Clive are illustrated cat cartoons I have created; Kevin being irritable yet charming and Clive the grump. I decided to make these into cards in order to sell on Etsy. With the illustration being a childlike drawing I decided it would be appropriate to create my own childlike font to match. This can be seen to the following page. (they’re pretty cute right?)

Film Photography
42 The film photography on the following pages is taken from a collection I have created called “The Prettiest Mess”. It is based on my University house in Leeds where there are 7 of us (all girls) living together. I wanted to play on the fact that we are all actually a complete mess, despite the stereotypical image that girls are cleaner than boys. Check out some of my favourites from the series. Each photo has a ‘filter’ on that I have created by putting a piece of pink acetate over the lighting source- hence ‘The Prettiest Mess.’

Album Cover Freelance
44 Here shows an album cover I was commissioned to do for an upcoming band. The artwork is being sent to Japan to be produced and sold over there and in the UK. The next page contains the print I also created that is to become the band’s ‘thing’- it is featured as the print on the melted goddess of music (front cover seen here), the back tracklisting, the logo and the CD print itself. I also redesigned the logo and updated the band’s brand image as a whole.

WORK EXPERIENCE
I am a highly focused and determined innovator taking inspiration from various creative fields in order to visualise fashion from new angles. Having gained an extensive range of computer based skills I have discovered my own style of work to be very graphics orientated. I very much enjoy linking fashion communication to the cultivated minimalism that often comes with graphic design. This is not to say that I don’t enjoy doing a little more freehand Pollock style painting in my spare time. When briefed on any task, I make it my own. I wish to nurture the talents that I possess and hope to never stop learning, creating and growing. I believe a placement would be the perfect way to gain valuable experience and make new contacts whilst simultaneously offering innovative ideas and an individual approach to challenging tasks.
