THE NEXT HANDMADE MARKET IS ON 7 & 8 SEPTEMBER 2019 Welcome to the Handmade Magazine, Spring 2019 edition. We are very excited about our line up for the market on 7 & 8 September, 10am until 4pm at Exhibition Park, Canberra. For this market, we are focusing on slow fashion and conscious living, and the designers and producers who are making in Australia, the ethical way. We are also celebrating Spring. Lighter clothing, brighter homewares and seasonal produce are all on our menu.
2
With around 70 new designers and producers, we’ll be offering you a mix of your well-known favourites and innovative newcomers. Our directory of designers and producers can be found within these pages. And if you want to read more, head to our blog with its news stories, our social media pages and our online directory, where you can browse by category. www.handmadecanberra.com.au Don’t forget, the market is busy, so if you want to beat the crowds, why not arrive in the afternoon? Our newsletter subscribers have access to special shopping times, so sign up from our home page and find out more. Thank you for supporting Australian small business and we’ll see you at the market!

our winter market We held a festival of food at the Handmade Market in June. The Canberra crowds came out in their thousands to taste, try, chat and buy in the warmth of the EPIC halls. And, as ever, there were hundreds of stalls featuring amazing design and style. We loved seeing the high level of design and professionalism that these Australian small businesses bring to every market. And we enjoyed the atmosphere and the smiles. We can’t wait to do it all over again next month. 5

Our fashion designers form ideas, design patterns, cut them out of hand printed or recycled fabrics and stitch them with love. They’re doing their best to select materials and develop processes that are ethical and do least harm to the environment. They produce small exclusive collections the long way round and we’re proud to support them.
Unique childen’s clothing is designed and made for style and comfort by Chalk n Cheese. Matta Clothing makes naturally soft clothing with thoughtfulness, loving hands and simplicity. Womenswear by Colour Coded is honest, conscious, sustainable and very stylish.

Windsor Lane believes women shouldn’t have all the fun with pattern and focuses on quality, durability and sustainability. Harriet Jane not only makes her own clothing, but prints the fabrics with photographs she has taken. Her aim is to tread lightly, using only natural fibres. Jude Artisan Fashion’s trademark is the unexpected combination of materials in quirky proportions and the reworking of traditional methods in a new way. Zoë Georgiou’s seasonal collections are natural and handmade in her studio, designed to fit real women and made from natural materials.
