The name in its essence depicts the nature of scraping the ground perpendicular to gravity while shooting roots from its nodes; a metaphorical representation of the project reflected in architectural forms in the context of Klang River in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Apart from revitalizing the river, the proposal seeks to aspire as a platform of pivotal paradigm shift to challenge interdependency of social domains; economics, politics, ecology, culture, and history.

Literally means "muddy estuary", Kuala Lumpur has had significant relationships and connection with the river as a valuable resource to the urbanization of Kuala Lumpur; unfortunately neglected presently turning it into a mere monsoon drain. Series of significant flooding events occurred as the result to this attitude, even more diminishing the association between the city and the river. The river; what was then an important reference of the city, now becomes a history of less value.

The project consists of four (4) types of facilities; Facility I is to facilitate the demolishing of the concrete surfaces of the river bed, retaining and utilizing the river current as convertible hydroelectric energy, and as a mechanism for bamboo planting machinery; Facility II functions to process (i.e. harvest, cut, cure, and dry) and prepare bamboo as the main building material and also acts as a waste incineration facility (boiler) that generates energy; Facility III serves as a link bridge between the river banks and essentially functions as an institute for archiving and a community centre. This facility contains temporary and permanent structures for research, storage, preservation and exhibition of each process of re-generation of the linear scraper; Facility IV concludes the process; which is the human habitat and continuous food production. The final result will be a complex consisting a chain of living units stretched along the 10.7km river span in stages at a given rate and later will penetrate slowly throughout the city and creating a self-sufficient society; contributing back to the city.!

Architecture as a tool of thought and representation, of socio-cultural and behavioural expressions has undeniably endured various stages of experimentation and definitions through time. The history tells us how its defining has evolved from a humble hut into soaring colonnades and arches, into super-structures, shrines of modernity. However interestingly, Franco La Cecla in his book Against Architecture summarised this as the "symbolic excellence of American modernity that has transformed itself into turgid showcase, a shrine not for preserving the fabric of humanity and its sense of community, but a physical format that is by now merely a brand rather than an urban configuration." This speculation is due to the grand separation of public-private buildings, as it is now being idolised by capitalistic corporations and bureaucratic political powers, subjugating the welfare of the greater public. Most dramatically, the housing and civic designs typified by the Modern Movement has become a world wide failure, technically, culturally, climatically, and socially.

The integral argument of the manifesto has existed historically by challenging the bureaucratic solutions of social problems that are often isolated from the communities they serve. Oi Polloi demands the massive architecture driven by political and economic forces that crush our lives and hopes to disappear, and replacing the old abstract notions of 'society' with new abstract concepts of community allowing people to have direct control over their environments.!

The structures are expected to serve, built by drones suiting to individual needs and ergonomes, creating ecstatic fabric of the urban environment. Transpired within the ruins of modernity, the living vessels carry the main programmes of individual living as well as common interactions among other vessels creating a more dynamic urban landscape.!

!

Besides being the catalyst of this entirely new configuration of urban landscape, the existence of the Piers is also as fundamental to serve the living vessels as a hub providing services and energy supply, as well as an infrastructure holding the entire network of transportation. The Piers will initially placed on abandoned construction sites within the city, benefitting the existing structure as support. The Piers are later interlinked by cables carrying living vessels as the mean of transportation.!

The emergence of this new configuration of an urban landscape will soon be acknowledged as the desirable solution for providing efficient use of space and ownership. The epidemic it created will later take over the soon-to-be abandoned architecture of the corporations, and hence the architecture will disappear.

./ lenggong visitor center This scheme indulges strong insistence on the idea of flexibility and adaptability linking it to the notion of "calculated uncertainty." This term is defined by Cedric Price as "the creation of temporary, adaptable structures that can be altered, transformed or demolished, serving the need of the moment." (Price,1984)!

The new Lenggong Valley Visitor Centre presents itself under an elegant structure of a massive canopy that seemingly floating gracefully on the sloping site held up by thin steel pillars. The canopy is established as a platform where the space underneath would be manipulated and transformed accordingly to fulfill the present need of the building which at the moment as a visitor centre. This platform consists of intersecting spaces arranged contrasting the verticality of the main structure which will be either suspended between columns or hung from the canopy. The language of lightly touching the ground was an effort to preserve the site's potential as an important archaeological site.

The idea of its flexibility as an infrastructural architecture can be seen in the play of its open and closed spatial criteria as well as its ability to be able to be dismantled, expanded and relocated to a new place for future use. Modular construction is adopted to allow this to happen. Motorised facade and amphitheatre allows the space to be transformed into public spaces where all kind of activities could take place. The 'skins' that enclosed the spaces could be thoroughly permeable, semi or non permeable depending on its spatial requirement which suggest a space could easily be a 'stage' to other activities that requires different spatial condition. This also apply to the canopy which is made of 'patches' of materials that respond to varied spatial requirements. The main staircase is hung from the canopy by means of tension cables/rods. The columns are dispersed to form a grid division of 8 x 8 where slabs are laid accordingly to create flexible spaces. This could expand or contract with time with the grid system as a division guide. ./ lenggong visitor center

The realization of the topic is depicted based on the future of art in Malaysia significantly. To ensure sustained growth in the long run, Malaysia must forge an environment that is conducive to innovations, new discoveries and the creation of new knowledge. Globally Kuala Lumpur is well known for its Petronas Twin Tower and Malaysia itself is well known of its landmark on the world map rather than its society and talent. Building up an artistic and creative buzz will thus help to attract both local and foreign talents to contribute to the dynamism and growth of economy and society.! Pasar Seni (Central Market) has long been known as Malaysian art hub.‘Seni means art in Malay’. However, where is the ‘seni’ in Pasar Seni now? Pasar Seni no longer carries the same value as it had always been back during the 90’s, which is a bit disappointing as it used to be a place where the local gathers to enjoy local arts and cultures, a place which defines Malaysia in its artistic and cultural aspects. It may received more visitor these days but none could deny the ‘emptiness’ evoked by its present’s atmosphere. It is just another ‘shopping mall’, contradicting its initial purpose. ! This scheme was my personal respond to ‘recreate’ Pasar Seni, to reclaim what it originally was, to bring it back to its glorious past where art meets culture. This project try to revive Pasar Seni area to its name by introducing art as a nodes. As the current site is the home of the longest graffiti wall in Malaysia, rather than only allow people to view from afar, it is an opportunity to bring people to the work of the art itself.

Mengadakan 2 talian hos berukuran 64 mm x 30 meter dan sebatang nozzle dari jenis 'Jet & Spray' yang ditempatkan di dalam peti kabinet berhampiran dengan tiap-tiap pili bomba.

3. Adakan jalan masuk perkakas bomba (Access Road) dengan kelebaran tidak kurang 20 kaki (6 meter) yang boleh menanggung keberatan beban 25 tan sepertimana yang ditandakan didalam pelan. 4. Adakan..........unit saluran bantu mula mengikut Piawaian Malaysia MS1489:Part 1:1999 atau mana-mana penentuan yang dibenarkan oleh Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia. 5. Adakan..........unit penggera kebakaran jenis pecah mengikut syarat-syarat penentuan Tatatertib Amalan British atau mana-mana penentu yang dibenarkan oleh Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia.

PODIUM (PERNIAGAAN)

6. Adakan sistem pengesan haba / asap mengikut syarat-syarat penentuan Tatatertib Amalan Piawaian British atau mana-mana penentuan yang dibenarkan oleh Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia. 7. Adakan suis pengasingan elektrik (electrical isolation switch) dan hendaklah tidak menjejaskan lampu kecemasan apabila ia ditutup. 8. Adakan sebuah pusat pemerintahan dan kawalan kebakaran di lantai tetuan (designated floor) yang dilengkapi dengan peti penggera kebakaran.

KEHENDAK-KEHENDAK PASIF 1. Penggunaan siling bangunan hendaklah menepati kehendak-kehendak UBBL 1984 Jadual kelapan. 2. Semua tangga keselamatan hendaklah dikepong dengan tembok batu bata setebal 115mm atau tangga terbuka yang mematuhi kehendak-kehendak UBBL 1984 sepertimana yang ditandakan di dalam pelan.

TOWER A

3. Adakan pintu rintangan api 1 jam sepertimana yang ditandakan di dalam pelan. Pemasangannya hendaklah tertutup sendiri dan tertutup rapat. 4. Adakan dinding pemetakkan (compartment wall) setebal 112mm/225mm batu-batu yang dibina sehingga paras bumbung/lantai sepertimana yang ditandakan di dalam pelan. 5. Dinding bagi bilik setor yang disifatkan merbahaya hendaklah setebal 100mm batu bata dan pintunya dari jenis rintangan api satu jam dipasang dengan 'door closer' 6. Adakan bidai gulung (roller shutter) rintangan api 2 jam / 4 jam seperti tertanda di dalam pelan. 7. Penggunaan kaca-kaca pada dinding luar bangunan hendaklah dari jenis yang dibenarkan oleh Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia. 8. Semua lubang perkhidmatan (service shaft) hendaklah ditutup di setiap tingkat dengan bahan rintangan api 2 jam.

9. Semua bilik bagi penempatan pam bomba dan janakuasa hendaklah dibina dari tembok batu-bata yang tahan rintangan api 2 jam. Pintu-pintunya hendaklah dari rintangan api 1 jam. 10. Dinding pemisah hendaklah dari jenis batu bata setebal 200mm jenis yang menanggung beban. Dinding ini hendaklah dinaikkan 225mm melebihi paras bumbung atau mematuhi rekabentuk yang dipersetujui oleh Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia. 11. Semua dinding pembahagi dalaman hendaklah dari jenis rintangan setengan jam dan dari jenis yang dibenarkan oleh Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia.
