U N L GR A P H I C DE S I GN P O ST E R For our first project of the semster, we were asked to create a poster for UNL’s Graphic Design program. I took a pop-art approach to this poster by having bold type and bright colors. I created three variations of the same poster, all with different colors. The posters look visually pleasing together as a series because they share the same color palette. There is a call to action through the phrase “apply now” which is followed by the program’s website. The typefaces used on these posters are Futura, Heavitas, and Guld Script.

Di s s e nt P o st e r For the second project, we were asked to make a poster that concerned a relevant social justice issue. I chose to focus my poster on the issue of the Dakota Access Pipeline. The tipi covered in oil is representative of the oil pipelines taking over native american land, and the x in the background represents the opposing opinions of this pipeline. The call to action is the hashtag #NODAPL. The typeface used on this poster is Cocogoose.

Nebr ask a cr aft brewery board logo and brand book The third project was focused on branding. Our client was the Nebraska Craft Brewery Board. This board promotes local, Nebraska brewed beer. For the logo, I wanted to include the state of Nebraska, so I combined that with a symbol for wheat to represent the beer. I used overlapping shapes and a slight gradient effect to make the pieces look as if they are laying on top of one another. For project four, we were asked to complete the brand by making business cards, letterheads, and envelopes. We also make a brand booklet with instructions on how to use every aspect of the branding.

de s i gn h i sto ry p o st e r Project six was a poster made from our research done in project five. We were all given a famous graphic designer and asked to make a presentation about their life and their work and write an essay about them. For the following project, we had to make a poster that promoted our presentation, including information about when and where the presentation. The poster was also supposed to reflect the style of that particular designer. I had Stefan Sagmeister. I modeled the colors off of a photoshoot his company did for Aizone clothing, and I made the focus of the poster his logo.

de s i gn h i sto ry maga z i n e For our final project, we were asked to compile all of the essays written for project five and create a mini magazine out of them. This project was mainly used to test our layout skills, rather than focusing on the content inside the magazine. In addition to laying out the magazine on Indesign, we had to create a logo and a unique name for our magazine.
