The project:
design & create a mural for Main Street that promotes preservation & protection of Montevallo’s natural resources
who:
Students who are entering 5th through 12th grade are invited to participate in a summer camp funded by CAWACO and sponsored by the University of Montevallo Office of Service Learning and Community Engagement. Camp instructors include university faculty, staff and students.
WHAT:
Campers will provide input into a mural design promoting preservation and protection of Montevallo's natural resources. Throughout the duration of the camp, campers will visit many of Montevallo's natural resources. Lunch and all materials will be provided.
WHen:
The camp will span three weeks. Campers are invited to select one or more sessions to attend. Attendance at multiple camps is based on enrollment. Price of each session is $25. Campers orientation: Friday, May 30, 6:00 p.m. at the Montevallo Scout Lodge Session 1: June 2–6, 8:00–12:00 Session 2: June 9–13, 8:00–12:00 Session 3: June 16–20, 8:00–12:00
Need inspiration? The Montevallo Recycling Center was given an artistic facelift in the summers of 2012 and 2013 by University of Montevallo professor Collin Williams and the students in his Community Art classes.
Where: COST:
Boy Scout Lodge, Park Street, beside Parnell Library, Montevallo, AL $25 per camper, per session, lunch provided. Make checks out to UM Foundation.
