WHO IS ELIGIBLE? Any high school junior or senior who meets the admission requirements is eligible for the College Ahead program, with the approval of their principal or counselor.

WHY CHOOSE UM COLLEGE AHEAD? Dual enrollment allows a student to receive both high school credit and college credit for a UM course. (Students should consult their guidance counselor about the credit they will receive.) Students can earn up to 30 hours of college credit, which transfers to most colleges nationwide. College Ahead students have access to Carmichael Library resources and get free admission to UM home athletic events.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS •
High school GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4-point scale)

Maintain a 2.5 GPA in college-level work
•
ACT scores: 23 English and 23 math OR
•
SAT scores: 530 verbal (critical reading) and 530 math
The first plan for the Montevallo campus was created by the Olmsted Brothers, the landscape architecture firm famous for designing New York’s Central Park and the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina.
$525 per course
WHAT DOES THAT INCLUDE? Tuition for a 3-hour, on-campus course is $525. This includes all fees except textbooks and extra materials. Gifted Resources Class (GRC) members from Shelby County Schools are given free tuition for one UM course. Books and additional courses are extra. Please indicate on the application if you are a GRC member.

Send an official copy of your high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores. Students should consult their guidance counselor about the credit they will receive. Counselors should also sign the College Ahead application to confirm you are eligible.
