Chamber Unveils New Business Model for 2019 Dear valued partners of the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce, On behalf of the board and staff of the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce, I am excited to announce the launch of a new business model for YOUR chamber of commerce! Since 1923, the Hanover Chamber has operated under a fair share dues model, meaning that members invest in our organization based on employee count. After nearly 100 years of serving the Hanover business community, we have come to understand that businesses and organizations of varying sizes and industries have vastly different needs and expectations from their chamber membership. Thus, the one size fits all membership (or fair share model) is no longer appropriate for our organization. In September 2018, our organization began the transition to a value-based membership model, which we refer to as Tiered Membership. While this model is new to you as our members, it is not a new concept. In 2012, the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives reported that 53% of chambers were already using a tiered membership system; that number has grown significantly in the years since. We are confident that a tiered membership model recognizes and honors the diversity of our membership, providing tangible value, benefits and return on your investment by allowing your business to invest at a level that best suits your needs. By making this change, the Hanover Chamber is positioned to better meet the evolving needs and expectations of our local business community as we enter our next 100 years.
Through a year-long research process, we have developed four, tiered membership packages for you to choose from, with two additional investment levels for Chamber Partners and Community Leaders. All of the benefits you currently enjoy as a chamber member make up our base tier, or Entrepreneur Membership. With a focus on adding greater tangible value to your membership, we’ve crafted three more membership levels that include additional exciting benefits as you move up the tiers. Furthermore, we recognize that businesses today face increasing costs. By keeping your bottom line in mind, our membership packages remain extremely affordable while adding unprecedented value. As we move forward through 2019 and into 2020, you can expect an invitation from our staff to meet one-on-one to discuss the membership package that best suits the needs of your business. We look forward to these meetings as an opportunity to engage all of our 488 members, learning about your business, your needs, and plans for YOUR future in the Hanover area. Thank you for your continued support of the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce. If you are ready to schedule a meeting with our staff to discuss your membership, please contact Haley Briggs directly to make an appointment. Sincerely,
Gary Laird President

Workforce Spotlight
Ambassador Spotlight
Having just completed its three-year strategic plan, the chamber has identified workforce development as a key priority for the organization through 2021. Objectives outlined in the plan include: •
Develop strategic partnerships with local schools and business to drive workforce development in the greater Hanover region, including shadowing, pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, and continuing education.
•
Facilitate business/education partnerships to integrate soft skills, trades/technology careers into K-12 curriculum.
•
Develop WorkPath initiative to prepare prospective employees to enter the workforce.
•
Work with employers to identify “upskilling” tools and resources to develop employees.
•
Introduce Talent Pipeline ManagementTM as a comprehensive workforce model across various industries and occupations.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Talent Pipeline ManagementTM (TPM) initiative is an effort to mobilize the business community to close the skills gap by applying lessons learned from supply chain management to its education and workforce partnerships. If employers play an expanded leadership role as “end-customers” of a talent supply chain, they will be more effective at organizing performance-driven partnerships with responsive preferred education and workforce training providers. For more information on TPM or the Chamber’s strategic planning efforts, please contact Gary Laird at glaird@hanoverchamber.

ELSNER Announces Facility Expansion
Prepping for the 2019 Women's Show
The 22nd Annual Froggy 107.7/Rocky 98.5 Women’s Show is October 5th and 6th, 2019! At the York Expo Center, the show features shopping, exhibits, wine tastings, cooking, fashion shows, and more! Attendees will also enjoy themed areas including Winery Row, the Pet Zone, and the Kid’s Corner. Vendors will offer products and services ranging from jewelry, self-defense, and health aids to cookware and home improvement. Booth spaces are still available! A special discount is offered to members of the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce. Interested businesses are asked to contact Women’s Show Headquarters at 717-637-3831.
ELSNER has broken ground on an expansion that will more than double the size of their facility. The expansion comes in response to the growth ELSNER has experienced over the past five years. The space will not only add square footage to the production facility, it will add office space for engineering and administrative staff. "We feel with added growth of the organization in recent years, in order to meet customer requirements for delivery and quality, the current space just wasn't enough," said ELSNER President/CEO Bert Elsner II. "The new space will be designed for assembly, testing and debugging of our manufactured machinery, while the existing space will be better utilized for added machining capabilities." Andy Brough, Project Manager for Conewago, board members Oliver Hoar, Dr. Gerhard Braun, Robert Van Sant, Chairman of the board of directors Bertram F. Elsner Sr., past President Rusty Elsner, and current President/CEO Bert Elsner II were on hand for a ground breaking ceremony recently held on the grounds. Construction is currently underway on the six-month project.
