CHAMBER NEWS Meet Our Board! Liz Johnides of The Markets at Hanover

Introducing Elizabeth (Liz) Johnides of our Board of Directors! " My name is Liz and I am part of the ownership and management team that operates The Markets at Hanover, Ballroom on Broadway, Produce on Broadway, Flour & Flair (pizza shop), Broadway Brew Coffee Shop, and Iron Lion (which is located in the space previously held by Public House at the Markets). I've been on the Hanover Area Chamber's Board of Directors for 2 years and enjoy being an active member of our business community. The Chamber is a leader in supporting initiatives that help businesses thrive. You’ll see them advocating at the local, state and even federal level to support our membership. They raise awareness of and create a connection to topics that impact businesses, while also keeping their finger on the pulse of the local business community. I believe the Hanover Chamber assists in creating a climate that is welcoming to new and supportive of existing businesses. They demonstrate this by fostering relationships with local, state, and federal officials. They work with the State & US Chambers to be aware of upcoming issues that may impact our businesses. They are supporters of a thriving downtown. They are a trailblazer when it come to internships, apprenticeship programs, and work force development. I am proud to serve on the Chamber board. My favorite part about Hanover is the comradery, support for each other, our thriving local events, and the growing downtown. You will often see myself and Brian Shaffer in the downtown at a local brewery or restaurant enjoying the many experiences Hanover has to offer." Thank you, Liz, for being a member of our Board of Directors!

CHAMBER NEWS

Get Involved with Discover Hanover® The Discover Hanover® 2024 Magazine may be out, but there are still other ways to get involved! The Discover Hanover® brand has undergone several changes over the last year. It began with a new logo design and refreshed color palette to align with Explore York, a major supporter of the brand, and their initiatives. The tourism brand followed suit with a vibrant new look to the magazine and a new direction with the magazine's narrative. And in 2024, Discover Hanover® will aim to uplift and advocate for the community and businesses in the Greater Hanover Area and show that Discover Hanover® is more than just a magazine.

February is American Heart Month February holds more than just Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, and the Superbowl; it is also American Heart Month. American Heart Month raises awareness about heart disease and prevention and encouages Americans to engage in healthy habits such as eating healthy, exercising more, and being more health conscious overall. As advocates for community health, we encourage the public to monitor themselves, get regular check-ups, and stay educated for a happy and healthy Hanover. We are fortunate to have a great network of health and medical organizations available to the Hanover community. Friday, February 2nd, is also Wear Red Day in support of American Heart Month initiatives.

This year, we are seeking to introduce new means of advertisement. We will be offering means of digital advertisement via avenues such as blog posts and social media posts. We will also be launching a new website in 2024 and will aim to offer advertisement on that platform as well. With over 15,000 website visits and 13,000 unique visitors to discoverhanoverpa.org in 2023, this is a viable means for businesses to get recognized. We are also taking into consideration how we can utilize our signature events in conjunction with Discover Hanover® to promote a stronger sense of community and get more businesses involved with our initiatives. We hope you will join us in supporting and strengthening Hanover's tourism brand. If your organization is interested in becoming more involved with Discover Hanover and learning more about promoting your name through this brand, please contact Marketing & Public Relations Manager, Katie Bream, at kbream@hanoverchamber.com.

Two Members Undergo Name Changes in the New Year The new year brought about fresh rebranding efforts from two of our members: Brown Plus, formerly known as Brown, Schultz, Sheridan & Fritz (BSSF) and Iron Lion, formerly Public House at the Markets at Hanover. Effective January 1, 2024, BSSF has transitioned to the new name and brand "Brown Plus." Along with their new name, they are presenting a new tagline, "See What's Possible." The purpose of the rebrand, according to a recent press release sent out by Brown Plus, was to align with their mission to "collaborate with [their] clients, presenting them with options and strategies to see what's possible as they move forward." The name "Brown Plus" was also decided upon to modernize their brand while still holding to their roots and their values.

A portion of The Markets at Hanover is also undergoing a change. Iron Lion will now occupy the space formerly held by Public House at the Markets. Iron Lion is an eatery and music venue and while they are currently open, they are undergoing some changes in their rebranding from the Public House name! Stay tuned for more details about this exciting change coming to The Markets at Hanover. Congratulations to both Brown Plus and Iron Lion (at the Markets at Hanover) on their new looks and branding!
