Chamber Releases 2020 Discover® Hanover Magazine We're starting off the new year with a bang—and a brand-new timeline for our annual Discover Hanover® Magazine! Previously published during the month of May, our magazine is shaking things up a bit for 2020. Thanks to a grant from Explore York, York County’s Official Tourist Promotion Agency, we're happy to announce that our 2020 issue will be distributed January through December, making this our first full year of distribution! To commemorate this collaboration, we put together a feature article with our county's new "have it made here" brand in mind, "Making History." This is one of our favorite articles to-date, as we find Hanover's innovative history to be so fascinating! Founded in 1763, Hanover has a vibrant past filled with commerce, and we're eager to share it. Pick up your copy at the chamber and learn about our world-famous creations as well as the industry leaders who call Hanover home. The 2020 cover photo was taken by one of our former interns and Hanover High School graduate, Sierra Stevens. Sierra snapped this shot in Center Square last year on a crisp spring day. Flowers were just beginning to bloom all around town, with the promise of summer—and fun summer events—just around the corner. Notice the architecture; isn't it beautiful? Our downtown houses many eye-catching buildings, several of which are currently undergoing revitalization. Learn more about these projects to preserve history in our downtown highlight article, "Healing the Heart of Hanover." Looking for a quick read? Read our calendar of events for a complete listing of all popular community events in 2020. Discover Hanover® Magazine is produced in cooperation with members of the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce, Explore York, and the community. Throughout the year, Discover Hanover® will be distributed in 40,000 copies throughout five states. Locally, the magazine is distributed by school districts, real estate agents, and tourist attractions. Interested in advertising in our 2021 issue? Hanover Chamber members have exclusive access to discounted early bird rates, which start in May. Haley Briggs, Director of Membership & Events, and Chamber President Gary Laird recently participated in the US Chamber's Talent Forward 2019 Conference. The conference brought a national education and workforce audience together for a day of inspiring, educational content and networking in Washington, D.C. The focus of the event was talent—educating and training, talent tech and data, recruiting, hiring, and upskilling. With no shortage of talent challenges, the opportunities for informative discussion were endless. This year, the excitement in the room, which held a sold out crowd, was a direct reflection of the incredible talent on stage, including singer, songwriter, producer, and activist John Legend. New PET CT Technology Available at UPMC Hanover
ACNB Bank Visits Alloway Creek Elementary School Students
New PET CT technology, used for evaluation, radiation therapy treatment planning, and baseline staging of many cancers, is available at UPMC Hanover. A Position Emission Tomography and Computed Tomography (PET CT) scanner delivers the highest sensitivity in the industry, allowing physicians to detect cancerous diseases in the early stages.
ACNB Bank SVP/Regional Sales Manager Lisa Monthley and Community Banking Specialist Linda Sanders recently visited more than 130 first grade students at Alloway Creek Elementary School in Littlestown. The students learned the difference between needs and wants, goods and services, and the importance of saving money. ACNB Bank’s Buckley mascot made a surprise appearance at the end of the assembly.
This new technology shortens the amount of time a patient is in the scanner and reduces the amount of radiation exposure by performing scans back-to-back. In addition, the scanner is equipped with a comfortable bed and features a large bore, limiting the effects of claustrophobia.
First grade students, and any child through age 12, may open a Buckley’s Savers to start on the path to good saving habits. Parents may enroll their children in this account at any ACNB Bank Office.

QUINN’S MARIANNE TAYLOR NAMED SERVICE SUPERHERO
ACNB BANK PROMOTES MARY JO HERR
PORTFOLIO MANAGER EARNS CFA DESIGNATION
Quinn recently announced that customer service specialist Marianne Taylor was selected as one of the industry’s Service Heroes for 2019 by PPB Magazine.
ACNB Bank recently promoted Mary Jo Herr to the position of Residential Mortgage Loan Originator.
Matthew Gavel, a portfolio manager with Domani Wealth, has earned the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) designation.
Taylor was one of 15 winners from 74 customer service professionals who were nominated. Her accolades were echoed by not one, but three customers who openly praised Taylor for intervention in making supertight deadlines, even during the holidays. Charlotte Turner, a distributor, wrote, “She is the ultimate professional - so kind and competent, and a great problem-solver. Her service is beyond excellent.” DOCEO HIRES JOHN ERISMAN Doceo has hired John Erisman as a Technology Consultant for their growing Lancaster Team. Erisman will educate and provide technology solutions to businesses and non-profits in the Lancaster County market. Doceo’s equipment and technology solutions include multifunction printers, desktop printers, wide-format systems, IT support and document management software.
In this role, she provides financing solutions for individuals interested in buying or building a home, or refinancing an existing mortgage. Herr is based at the Bank’s New Oxford Office, located at 318 Lincoln Way East in New Oxford, PA, and serves mortgage customers primarily in the York County market. CHRIS ZIMMERMAN APPOINTED TO HEAD APPRENTICE TRAINING PROGRAMS The Manufacturers’ Association recently announced the appointment of Chris Zimmerman as apprentice coordinator. A seasoned manufacturing professional, Zimmerman comes to his new role with the Association following 25 years of experience in the manufacturing industry as a tool room supervisor, tool and diemaker, and apprenticeship coordinator.
The CFA charter is recognized globally by investors as the definitive standard by which to measure the competence, integrity and dedication of serious investment professionals. Less than one in five candidates who enroll in the program pass all three exams and meet the professional and ethical requirements to earn the credential, and the process generally takes more than four years. Professionals must complete 4,000 hours of work experience directly involved with investment decisions, and be knowledgeable in advanced investment, analysis and real-world portfolio management skills. Gavel’s primary role is in the investment strategy group where he specializes in investment due diligence and portfolio management, including the creation, implementation and trading of sophisticated portfolio strategies.
