As many of you are aware, our website provider experienced a failure in October 2018. This breach caused our website to revert to its most recent back up, which unfortunately happened in November 2017. After many attempts, our provider was unable to fully recover more current information, which left our website outdated by over a year. We know that our website has become a major resource for our members and for the community, so we made the decision to create a brand-new website instead of rebuilding the old one. After months of hard work, we are incredibly excited to announce that the brand new www.hanoverchamber.com is officially up and running!
Be sure to check out our fresh, modern design and brand-new features like live weather, new staff listing, and updated event pages, as well as our classic features like job postings, hot deals, and our member directory. We hope our new site proves useful to you. With its simple layout, easy-to-navigate menus, and picturesque pages, our new website perfectly represents the chamber in 2019. If you experience any issues while accessing our new website, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our office at 717-637-6130. All feedback is welcomed. Do you have questions about our new site? Please contact Emily Freiert, Marketing and PR Director at efreiert@hanoverchamber.com.

The chamber would like to thank Lisanne Gray of Michael Gray Painting for her commitment to our ambassador committee. Lisanne has been an ambassador for 25 years and is officially our longest-standing committee member! Here's what Lisanne has to say about her time on the committee: "It's always been my nature to bring likeminded individuals together, so offering my time to introduce businesses to each other just seemed like a natural way to give back to a Chamber that has given so many opportunities to me. I have been on board long enough to witness changes and growth, and to be a part of this ever-evolving group of staff and other ambassadors/volunteers has been nothing less than a great experience. I always joke that I came on board as the youngest ambassador and am now in the top two of the oldest! It will be my pleasure to continue to serve on this committee even after I retire, if that ever happens!" Haley Briggs, chair of the ambassador committee, enjoys working with Lisanne, "I know I can look to her for advice because she’s been through it all with the chamber. Lisanne is such a great asset to our team, and I’m very thankful to work so closely with her." Thank you for your years of continued support, Lisanne!

Metalworking students from South Western High school recently completed a community-focused project involving designing and fabricating benches for Bay City Restaurant. The students designed, prototyped, and built jigs to ensure accuracy and speed up the process. Using a CNC plasma cutter, the students were able to craft the Bay City logo in the steel. The benches were then MIG welded and powder coated to match the restaurant's exterior colors. Several other student-crafted benches were produced for Conewago Chapel, Snyder's of Hanover, Utz Quality Foods, and Ox Industries. While this project is not a requirement for the Hanover preapprenticeship program, it has inspired one student to pursue a pre-apprenticeship. Congratulations and kudos to South Western High School for helping our local workforce attract talent while engaging the community in classroom projects!

Hanover Logistics Expands
During last month's government shut down, chamber member Elsner Engineering Works wanted to help furloughed government workers. The company partnered with Southeastern Adams Volunteer Emergency Services (SAVES) to provide a free, hot meal for those affected by the shutdown, as well as those who are unemployed. Members of SAVES volunteered to serve the meal, which included chicken pot pie, applesauce, bread and ice cream. “We're a successful company. We're proud of our community, and we're always trying to help others, and this is our way of giving back, said Bert Elsner, President of Elsner Engineering Works. The chamber would like to thank Elsner Engineering Works for their dedication and commitment to the Hanover Community.
To accommodate increased growth of their third party logistics (3PL) businesses, Hanover Logistics has purchased the former 325,000 square foot GlaxoSmithKline Distribution Center in the Penn Township Industrial Park. This is the 2nd acquisition in recent years, having purchased the former 435,000 square foot Delia’s distribution facility in 2015. This most recent acquisition increases their total space capacity to more than 1.2 million square feet in Hanover. Hanover Logistics provides warehousing, transportation, and e-commerce order fulfillment services through two wellestablished, Hanover-based operating companies; Hanover Terminal, Inc., the warehousing company formed in 1956 and R.H. Crawford, Inc., the transportation company formed in 1932.
