Workforce Spotlight
Hanover High School has developed a credentialing program for students in collaboration with Utz Quality Foods and HACCGettysburg in the field of Mechatronics. The program provides education and training in a newly developed lab, all based on the mechatronics certification program of study at HACC-Gettysburg. This allows students to articulate up to eight college credits upon entering HACC. In addition to the classroom component, students have the opportunity to meet with maintenance supervisors and plant managers at Utz Quality Foods to gain real-world knowledge and better understand how the classroom content applies in the manufacturing setting. The Mechatronics Certification Program provides students a variety of career pathways within this emerging and highdemand occupation by developing the skills necessary to enter the workforce and to continue their education and training. Seniors in the program may elect career shadowing experiences or job placement opportunities in mechatronics and industrial maintenance within local manufacturing facilities. Hanover High School currently has twenty students involved in the program.

Duffy is a 14-year veteran of Delone Catholic and teaches ninth and tenth grade English. She comes from a long line of Catholic School English teachers and was initially reluctant to follow in the family's footsteps, but felt a restlessness that could only be calmed by giving to others what was given to her.
