Chamber Welcomes Julia Groft as Chair of the Board The chamber would like to welcome Julia Groft, Vice President of Operations at Manpower, as chair of the board. Groft succeeds Kevin Gulden of Utz Quality Foods after he served seven years with our organization. To learn more about Gulden's contributions to the chamber, please turn to page 4. Groft is eager to take on her new role with the chamber, “I have been involved with the chamber for many years, and I look forward to being an integral part of its leadership team. I have a personal interest in workforce development and am excited to be involved with the various workforce initiatives the chamber leads.” Under her leadership, the chamber will continue its focus on economic and workforce development, community leadership and strengthening chamber membership. In terms of economic development, the focus will remain on our tourism campaign and the Main Street Hanover (MSH) program, which will enter its eighth year in 2020. The Main Street program is critical to the revitalization and continued economic growth of downtown Hanover, and the chamber is proud to support its efforts.
Regarding tourism, the chamber will continue to promote the Discover Hanover® brand that was developed in 2019. 2020 will also be the biggest year in history for our Discover Hanover® Magazine, as distribution will be at an all-time high of 40,000 copies in five states. This increase wouldn’t be possible without a grant from Explore York. Workforce development will also be a key focus in the new year as the chamber continues to fulfill the needs of local employers through the Hanover Apprenticeship Program, which now includes eight business partners and three school districts. The chamber will also focus on talent pipeline management for highdemand occupations. The Leadership Hanover program will continue to grow in the new year. The 20192020 Leadership Hanover class will complete the new program that was developed for last year’s class. In addition to Leadership Hanover, the chamber will support the growth of the Hanover Area Young Professionals (HAYP), an organization that strives to meet the needs of the emerging business leaders in the community. As always, membership will be a top priority. The chamber continually evaluates its programs to provide members with opportunities to grow their businesses. Through events, marketing, advocacy, health benefits, and much more, the chamber provides a wide range of opportunities to showcase and strengthen member businesses. Please join us in welcoming Julia Groft to her new role as chair of the board. We look forward to her involvement and are excited for the many initiatives she will lead.

local businesses and schools. Through the apprenticeship program, high school students have the opportunity to pre-apprentice in their junior year. Upon graduation, they then have the opportunity to complete a second year as a paid apprentice in one of the eight participating companies. Gulden also oversaw the chamber's transition to a new, value-based dues model. Under this new model, members choose a dues level based on their individual needs. More than 150 members were transitioned during Gulden's time with the chamber. Thank you to Kevin Gulden for his many contributions to our organization. We appreciate the time he devoted to our events, meetings, and programs. Please join us in wishing him the best of luck as he continues to serve the Hanover area.

In August, Governor Tom Wolf announced the approval of new apprenticeship grants to Elsner Engineering Works, KLK Welding, and Utz Quality Foods to fill the need of skilled workers for manufacturing positions that require specialized knowledge. “In order to move our manufacturing sector to the next level, it is essential that our employers find skilled workers to fill their needs,” said Governor Wolf. “These new apprenticeship programs are a great example of government, business and organizations working together to strengthen our manufacturing sector and provide job seekers with paid on-the-job training in industries where employers are eager to hire highly skilled workers.” To donate, get involved, or learn more about the Hanover Apprenticeship Program, please contact Gary Laird at glaird@hanoverchamber.com.

APPI Energy Hosts Mixer in Hanover
Thank you to all who attended our October mixer sponsored by APPI Energy! Guests enjoyed networking over drinks and appetizers while learning about APPI's energy saving programs. Every day APPI identifies a wide range of energy supplier prices across the United States and utilizes that data to provide the lowest prices available among their vetted, competing suppliers. APPI has been a member of the chamber for well over a decade. The chamber has endorsed a widely successful affinity program with APPI since they became members, and they are the chamber's preferred service provider for energy savings.
The ever-growing specialty of Regenerative Medicine will now be offered to patients looking to seek alternative options to pain management, overall wellness, and aesthetics. “We are pleased about the community’s response to adding these therapies that are an alternative to traditional methods and look forward to helping our patients lead healthier lives” states Medical Director Terry Calder, MD.
