HM: we're sitting here with No Face, The Man, The Name and The Brand. What's going in Man? How have you been? Noface: Always well. I always say I'm always well because I live in a comparative world. I compare where we are to a lot of regions and I realized we are definitely blessed to be where we are at this moment. HM: Word up! man It's been some things going on in the world. I'm trying to figure out where to start this interview because you have a lot of things going on. I guess I want to start with the children's books. Noface: I have a series of books that I've been writing. Some of them are children's fiction, adult fiction. I've been writing books. I actually print them out and make the covers out of glass. The covers are glass. HM: How did you get that started? Noface: I went to record somewhere one time. I always have stories and entertain myself. We were sitting at the studio and this lady had kids and I just start telling them a story. They were like what is he doing? They were really engulfed and wanted to finish the story before they left. I finished the story and my friend was like, you should write that story down. That's where it started, I wrote that story down and right now I'm finishing book number ten.
HM: Its strong too. Now is that for just men or women too? Noface: It's for both. As everything in this world should be for men and women. Women are for men and vise versa. HM: Yeah by the time they get together they will smell the same anyway. So are you going to market this in stores? Noface: Right now it's just going to be available on line but if there's a demand for it or wish for it then yeah. That'll be nice if everyone can smell like chocolate. HM: that’s sweet haha. Tell us about your No Face dolls? Noface: We have a doll. It's like a full doll. It stands about a foot tall. It wears fabric clothing, it's got a mask you know, everything. I put a ring on the finger. Those will be available soon as well. I use two dolls in one of my videos. Basically I call the videos hors devours video.
HM: So where can we find these books? Noface: They're going to be available here shortly. I've already let a few people get a couple of copies. Hopefully as I finish number ten, I wanted to release them as a set. HM: I've been hearing a lot about this fragrance. You want to elaborate in that? Noface: Yeah that's what I'm wearing. I always wear it. It's called No Face. It's a blend of chocolate of spice. HM: Are you going to market these as well? Noface: Yeah it will be available soon.I sold a few of them. I blend the two flavors myself. The ingredients that go in it. HM: Waiting for the main course. 15
Noface: Yeah these are something to snack on. HM: I've seen the video with you on the bicycle. Noface: Did you get the concept on that one? HM: Yeah I saw it a while back; I was like man this music is something else. What style would you call your music? Noface: Arrotica Funk HM: It's just different; I've never seen anything like it. (Video) Noface: Yes thanks for saying that. That bicycle one the girl is offering chocolate chip cookies. When I like at her from my view she’s blurry but the cookies are very vivid. So that's basically what I'm trying to say, what I'm interested in is what I'm interested in. I was focused o those cookies so everything else is blurry. The message was about staying focused on the prize and not getting side tracked. Realizing that you’re getting a gift and passing that gift on. In that video, the girl gave me a bicycle. I used that to discover, I went out in the middle of the night and rode around and met someone. I took that cookie and gave to the woman that gave me the bike. The gifts should go in full circle. HM: How long have you been doing music? Noface: I started at the end of 2010. Like October 2010. It's going on the fourth solid year. HM: Man really? You sound like you been out for years. Noface: I don't like to sample any music; it has to be from scratch. Like when I make pancakes. I like pancakes because you can pour liquid sugar over the top and I love sugar. I make my pancakes from scratch; I bake pies from scratch, bread from scratch. HM: So you're defiantly a brand. You do everything. How did you get started in music.
Noface: I was given a gift, a Ukulele. I began to play that and mimic what I heard on the radio. I graduated from that to an acoustic guitar, from acoustic to base guitar from base to a keyboard. I had a MP device and just continued to have a lot of fun. HM: Do you mainly do shows? Are you on any bodies line up for a concert? Noface: I haven't been on tour but I have done a hand full of shows with Bootsy Collins. I had a show where Snoop Dogg was performing. We did a Halloween show for the Clippers. We've had some nice events. We were invited on the Playboy channel. That was really nice, a nice group of people. HM: Was it at the Mansion? Noface: No it was actually at there playboy tv studio. I get a lot of invites for a lot of shows. I'm going to do the Martin Luther King Show tomorrow. I won't do chocolate pussy at that show because it'll be a lot of little kids there. I guess they do put want them to know where they came from. HM: How can we find information about you and your schedule? Noface: They can just google my name Noface Shadowman will show it everything. Somebody told me I should put my music on Reverb nation so when I did that, I got a call. I started at number fifty seven and then I got this call I was like at number fourteen. So I went online to see if I was number fourteen and they were wrong. I was actually number one. I was number one for a couple weeks. I think right now, currently I'm like number three. That's interesting that something out there is happening. HM: Yea thats hot! Every time I hear it I'm taken by surprise. Noface: I cant wait for the real hot stuff to get out there. A lot of the music I done has not been exposed to shared yet. I look forward to sharing it. HM: That was going to be my next question. Are you having cd come out soon? 16
17
18
Noface: I have CDs that are coming out. I like to do stuff in singles basically. I will do an album but I like to compile what they want. Like if you go into a restaurant you don't have to get it the way we do it, you can pick and choose what you want. A la carte so to speak. HM: What else would you like use to know? Noface: Yea I have a film. It's being written right now. It's a movie, it's a science fiction. It's kind of a horror/ comedy film that I'm going to be in. What I am is a music superhero. My job with my music is to send out a music frequency and allow the evil out there to win I the crowd that's listening. To give them options and listen to something other then what they're told. It's a lot of stuff that sounds the same you know, hear something different. I know and understand that humans are creatures of habit and in an attempt to help expand the habit or break the habit is an opportunity to hear something different and it's still programmed to still make you move. I want to do some other stuff later on like a Noface skateboard, a Noface bicycle like a 20" bike, like a race bike. HM: Ok sounds like you're good in that Noface brand. Noface: yea, right now I have three sound cards for the keyboard that I use to write. I use a lot of other outboards that I use to write music. I'm o. The third sound card. The first two have over six hundred completed sounds. All the instruments are already on. The one I'm on now has a little of eight hundred because I bought a larger card, more storage and I have about three hundreds in the keyboard itself. I don't keep the ones that don't bump so I have a lot to choose from. The way I pick my stuff is by scrolling through the numbers and stop without looking and I do that about five times. I may take two from this card or two from this card and just scroll and write those numbers down and from there I just stand at the top of my stairs and drop them to the floor. The ones that are facing up are still
in the mix and the ones that are facing down those songs are no longer considered, whichever ones are facing up I take those and drop them again and keep doing until the last o e is facing up and that's how I choose my next song. HM: That's definitely a different way to pick your songs. Noface: If I didn't, I wouldn't know which one to choose so I have to let the universe pick it out. It's also a matter of trust. You have to trust that it's going to be good. If you're going to have to choose one of the ones you have then only keep the ones that are worth choosing when it's handed back to you. You don't want to keep in you system or in your system anything that you are not proud to represent. You should be proud of everything around you, everyone around you. HM: Where can our audience find you. Noface: it's all Noface and that's one word and you have to just add Shadowman because it's a lot of Nofaces out there. HM: Well all right, is there anything else you want us to know? Noface: Yea the human race. Humans for sure have to slow down and realize what's going around them, there are some moves being made that they are not going to approve of. Big moves are going on around them on a government level. They should really pay attention. They have a plan and an agenda and people should always be aware of that. Eight people are going to understand it and five of those will be people that don't want me to say that. The other three will hear it accidentally if they hear it. I just want to say that everyone that I've met on earth, I love them all and I have a lot of heart for them. The term that is used a lot is blessed and I agree because I want everyone to be blessed and something wonderful to happen for them in their lives. As I grow and get to the point I want to be able to help. That's my goal and my plan, helping peo19
ple to follow their dreams and goals as well. I'll never get a cake that I don't slice and share. HM: I noticed most of your music is about love. Noface: I don't write about hate. I have a pet crow and we only speak about observations and the beauty of love. There's no reason to speak any hate or anything mean about anyone. That's a waste of time, if you want to be mean be silent. There's nothing anyone can tell me that is worth getting upset about. We're not running world systems and bringing oxygen out of space. You're just here on Earth doing a job to bring in some income. To be emotionally upset is a waste of time and self punishment. One has to be happy where they are or move where they can be happy. Find new friends or new circles because this life can go by very quickly so you should spend it doing what you want to do. I would feel sad for those that are in a situation that are afraid to let go for fear of falling down lower. I'd rather fall down lower then be unhappy. I just chose to live where I'm comfortable, even though there is a lot of freeway noise, that just tells me that people are on their way to somewhere wonderful. HM: Man you have spoken true words. I'm glad I had the chance to listen to you and I hope people learned from you. I hope we can
NoFace: If you can't use it in a global scale, just start with those in your house and your friends. Just say you know what, I'm not going to get mad at you anymore, from now on I'm cool with how you are and I'm just going to embrace you. You are my friend and in my circle so I should treat you well even if I disagree I don't need to get mad at you. I don't need to yell at you and I don't need you to yell at me. I can hear you when you speak and if I'm listening I can hear you when you think. I should be able to know what you are thinking before I ask. Like are you thirsty are you hungry, here's a hug, I like your smile. Just be happy from there. HM: Change the world NoFace: Yeah with he people right around first HM: Well Alright, thanks A lot. Noface: No thank you, you doing this is a gift to me as well. It's a gift to them from you as well so shout out to you. I want to also thank Nemo, he's been helping out recently you know, LoonyBin productions, Amy Simpson, right there from the very beginning, a good friend and very loyal. I still have people that I've worked with in the past that Re showing love and sell curious about where I'm going. They have been offering their love as well. I definitely give my love to God and the Universe and the few who feel me.
all learn to use this love instead of all this hate. That will be a good thing. 20

HM: I know you rock a lot of the oldies. How do you feel hip hop is going today? Bishop: Hip Hop is moving forward like everything else. There's going to be some changes as long as there is an understanding on street life, every day life, you know what I mean just rap about it black or white. People just have to hear good music and give some good vocals and that what it's all about. I just did a Cd with Nick Cannon. He' s doing his thing like IceBerg slim. So I gave him some game on that cd and that will be coming out real soon. HM: I know you are into music and movies but I've heard you have a book out telling your life story. Bishop: Yea I have a book called The Life of Don Juan. From the days I started pimpin' and how I got this pimp knowledge from he Pimp God and staying down from the bottom to the top. I'm the number one pimp in the country like 4 flat tires I'm keeping it real.
HM: can you tell us how you met Dogg? Bishop: Well, I met Snoop Dogg when he came to Chicago to do a show and he seen me in the audience suited and booted, fly and he sent his Uncle June Bug out there and said tell that Player to come to the dressing room. I went to the dressing room and from that point on, it was like 95 or 96. I remember the soul
train award and he won His first award. I was there with him, Johnny Cochran, Sugg Knight and Tupac it was a big night.

Hamsun Magazine got a chance to sit down with Kirk Mcclung from UNEEK Collection
HM: I just want to ask a couple questions about how you got your brand started. Can you first start off by telling us what UNEEK stand for? Kirk: UNEEK stands for Unifying Nationalities by Encouraging Education and Knowledge. That is the acronym that comes along with the word. We created that because we wanted to come with a positive message. HM: Where did UNEEK get started? Kirk: UNEEK started In Detroit Michigan that's where the home base is. The thought process of creating UNEEK actually started in LA. We basted out of Michigan because at the time we both live in Detroit Michigan.
Kirk: It's so many intricacies that go along with getting a brand started. You have to meet people get your name out there you know marketing. We're still in the growth process but that is definitely something very hard at the beginning of an upcoming brand. We created the brand by creating events for people to start following so they can know what UNEEK was. HM: So what makes UNEEK different from all the other street clothing lines? Kirk: UNEEK is different because it's our brand. It's about us we are the brans so there's nobody else like us. Everything that we encompass is in the brand. It's an extension of us, a lot of people talk about their brand but they're not creating the wheel. Everybody has done something with clothes they might add something or take something away but when you want to create a brand You have to encompass yourself into that brand and that's what we did we put our personalities into that brand. That's what make it different from any other brand. There's nobody else like us.
HM: So it's you and your copartner Robert right? Kirk: Yea Robert Collins. we started it. We did have a designer at the beginning for a couple years but he went on to different things so me and Rob started from scratch or humble beginnings. HM: What year was that? Kirk: 2008 is when we created the brand, basically we had the brand but it was just a thought process. That acronym is what we wanted the brand to be about. We had no shirts for the whole first year it was just all a thought process. We did a lot of promoting events and that was just beginning of it. HM: I like how you let us know that it didn't start overnight. It takes a while to get things started. 62
63
HM: So UNEEK is music fashion and lifestyle? Kirk: It's Art too. We have our designers create some of our logos. We do base it off of artistic things like artistic view of music and artistic view of culture so we also add art in yo that. HM: Where does your inspiration come from? Kirk: It's kind of hard to use the word inspiration. When a designer sees something he like he uses inspiration but with us we want our brand to be worldwide and internationally known. We basically want people to get jobs from it, to benefit from it to be educated from it. There looking at it as an example from us starting from scratch so I guess using the word inspiration is for us to inspire others. We want to have something for them to look up to like these guys started from scratch and didn't have nothing and they created a brand so we can do that too. That's what our inspiration is.
HM: How do you come up with the ideas for your designs that's on your clothing? I've seen a lot of nice ones. Kirk: With our brand we wanted to use universal symbols something everyone can identify it. Music is universal and everybody can identify what a tape is or headphones or boombox. You can like the guitar or the drums whatever you like there are certain symbols that you can see. Music is something that brings people together something they can identify so that's what we wanted to start out with. That's another reason why we went with that, with the tape and the record and boom box they all have messages behind them that we come up with. It's something we want to have a message with and bring people together at the same time with the clothing. We want them to bond with our clothing brand and still identify our message. HM: Is UNEEK for men, women or is it universal? Kirk: It's unisex we have men a d women. Our goal from the beginning was to have our line unisex. We went with the men side first because man clothing is easier to make. Women are all about touch and feel on their body. It's all about being comfortable. We want a woman to steal her husbands or boyfriends shirt because she likes how good it feels on her. We researched our material and found what we believe people can be comfortable in. We wanted it to where you touch a UNEEK shirt you know it's a UNEEK shirt. We want them to identify out brand with that situation also. HM: What's all in the lineup? Kirk: In the lineup now we have tank tops, snap backs, beanies, Necklaces and bracelets and we have hoodies too. For the next season we're going to be creating a more up-todate high-end line. We're also going to have more women clothes as well so it'll be tank tops for women, V- necks for
64
65
women crew-neck's for women. We're doing that for the Summer/fall. So in the middle of the summer we will have tank tops and then it will go into the t-shirts, v-necks and hoodies. We're trying to target both sexes real strong now. You have to find a niche with women, Something that they like about your brand. You can get their feedback and that's what we're using. A lot of women like the tank top so that's what we're doing.
If you see us doing something you can enjoy it out the comfort of your own home and still be a part of it. That's something we created and stuck to it. We work with a couple different correspondents. It's been fun and it's going to keep growing. We want it to be like a lifestyle. Our brand and the event that were attending can benefit from it.
HM: You guys were at the bake sale 2014 LA convention center so do you guys do a lot of shows?
Kirk: Yeah that's our unique way of spelling it. UNEEK is the brand and UNEEK collection is the full brand.
Kirk: The bake sale was a great show we made a lot of different connections. We met a lot of people and got exposure in LA so people can know our name and our brand. We don't do a lot of shows as far showing but we do attend a lot of shows for networking. For us it makes a lot of sense to do shows when we know people are there to buy our brand. When our brand is able to go we come with a full slate of things where people can come in and sit down and get everything they need. We also like to look for shows that we know people are coming for our clothing.
HM: How was the Vegas magic show?
HM: So UNEEK is U. N.E.E.K
Kirk: The Vegas show was cool. We had a meetings set up with buyers to talk about our brand so that was a whole purpose of that. It was a good show it turned out real good. HM: So for our Los Angeles readers , you guys do have clothes out here in the store right?
HM: How can our readers follow you find you or order your products? Kirk: The best way to go www.UNEEKcollection.com, We have also been putting our clothing on Instagram. You can send your Email we can send you all the information. So the two best ways are through Instagram on our website. You can also find out what's going on on Facebook Twitter and tumbler. We keep those social networks updated we update at least three or four times a week. We also have YouTube where you can see all of the events we attend. HM: So UNEEK TV is a spinoff right? Kirk: It's definitely a spinoff. UNEEK TV is my baby . I wanted to get a lot of our marketing out without having to do a lot of work.
Kirk: Our semi-fashion store is over on Melrose. We're going to bring our women's line into the store at the end of April. Right now we 66
just have the men but not all of our updated designs are in the store right now. HM: Alright man we can have our LA people in the store and have them rocking that UNEEK gear. Kirk: That's exactly what we want. That benefits us greatly and our customers will enjoy it. A lot of people that wear the shirts keep coming back and that's what we want. HM: Yeah I'm wearing one right now and it's kind of nice. Kirk: THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT WE WANT!
