Fans Make this Season Memorable with Tremendous Team Support Remaining Games Promise Just as Much Excitement An Outlook to the Remaining Home Games this Season Penn State entered the 2007 season with high hopes. The Nittany Lions started the season 3-0—including their “White Out” win over Notre Dame—before losing a hard fought contest with Big Ten rival, Michigan, on September 22, and suffered their second loss to Illinois on September 29. The Nittany Lions got back on track versus Iowa on October 6, beating the Hawkeyes 27-7. This brings the Nittany Lions’ home winning streak to 18 of the last 19 games at Beaver Stadium.

Fans are reminded that the new “no drinking” policy is in effect again this season, meaning you cannot consume alcohol outside the stadium during the duration of the game. Happy Valley also offers fun alternatives for watching the action on TV. Almost every local bar and restaurants will have the game on so there are plenty of places to watch the game: Rotelli, 814-238-8463 Damons Restaurant, 814‑237‑6300

Penn State will square off against Wisconsin for Homecoming on October 13, and Ohio State on October 27, and despite a few losses, fans will no doubt be out in full force to cheer on their Nittany Lions.

Champs Sports Bar & Grill, 814‑234‑7700

Ohio State was the Big Ten home game most people circled on their calendar as the game of the season, with good reason. The Buckeyes are coming off a 12-1 season and 8-0 against Big Ten Conference competition. The Buckeyes defeated Penn State 28-6 during their 2006 match-up at Ohio Stadium. But this time the Buckeyes come to Beaver Stadium for a night game, where the packed house will be pumped up and ready for some serious cheering.

Quaker Steak & Lube, 814‑234‑8900

Loyal Penn State fans will make the most of the rest of the season, especially the Ohio State game, and look toward next year. The Nittany Lions will close out their home season on November 3rd against Purdue.

Can’t Score Tickets? You’re Not out of the Game. Tickets will be hard to come by for the OSU match-up as well as all other home games, but many people will still come to tailgate and hope to purchase tickets before kickoff. Also check out The Greatest Show in College Football, which offers a wide variety of activities, food and fun for fans in the area around the stadium. Families will enjoy Tailgreats at the Bryce Jordan Center starting three hours prior to game time.

Nittany Lion Basketball Sets Out to Prove that Football Isn’t the Only Game in Happy Valley Where: Bryce Jordan Center, seating capacity 15,261 Coach: Ed DeChellis (5th Year at Penn State) 2006 Season: 11‑19 overall record (11‑8 Home), 2‑15 Big Ten Conference (2‑6 Home) 2007 Outlook: Penn State Head Coach Ed DeChellis has had success in the past building a solid basketball program. He coached East Tennessee State from 1996‑2003 and during that time they won three conference titles and made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a decade. This is DeChellis’ fifth year at Penn State and he has had the time to recruit his own players. This could be the year where you see the Nittany Lions surprise the college basketball world. In the end, winning Big Ten Conference games is the key. In order to prepare, Penn State has some exciting non‑conference games scheduled as a warm up.

The home regular season will get underway on November 12 when the Nittany Lions face Saint Francis (PA). Penn State starts their Big Ten home slate on January 12 against Minnesota. Penn State will play nine Big Ten games total at home including the regular season finale on March 8 against Indiana. The Nittany Lions return several starters from last season including senior guard Geary Claxton. Claxton led the team in scoring with 16.3 points per contest and averaged 8 rebounds per game last year. He was the 2007 Penn State Co‑MVP and Second Team All Big Ten as voted by the media. The other 2007 Penn State Co‑MVP, Jamelle Cornley, returns this season as well. Cornley, a junior, was second on the team in scoring with 13.5 points per game and averaged 6.7 rebounds. He was named an Honorable Mention for the All‑Big‑Ten Team. Senior forward Brandon Hassell and junior guard Danny Morrissey also return. Morrissey led the Nittany Lions with 64 three pointers last season. Penn State men’s basketball has a tough schedule, stable coach and a promising cast, and is out to prove that Happy Valley will rally around its program. Ticket Information: For more information on tickets call 814‑863‑1000.

Virginia Tech of the ACC Conference comes to Happy Valley on November 28, followed by the Big East’s Seton Hall on December 1. Princeton visits the BJC on December 12.

Season Preview Starting something new is always exciting and unnerving at the same time. The Penn State women’s basketball team will have a new coach on the sidelines this season for the first time in 27 years. Bring on the Coquese Washington era. Washington comes from a strong Notre Dame women’s basketball program. She will Coach Washington have a good foundation in some returning starters and also has some great young talent. The Lady Lion’s leading scorer from last year, sophomore guard Tyra Grant, is returning after averaging 14.6 points per game. Providing strong leadership will be returning team co‑captain, senior Kamela Gissendanner. Gissendanner added 12.8 points per game last season.

Playing in front of a lively crowd at home makes it easier to adjust as well. Last season the Lady Lions went 12‑1 at home and 7‑1 in Big Ten Play at home. A tough non‑conference schedule leading into Big Ten play will help build a team yearning for post‑season play. They play host to the WBCA/Basketball Travelers Classic on November 9‑11. Penn State tips off with Arizona on November 9. They then play Charlotte on November 10 and Pittsburgh on November 11. Penn State starts off the Big Ten Home slate on January 2 versus Illinois. They then have a three‑game stretch at home from Feb. 10, 14 and 17 against Iowa, Minnesota and Michigan State respectively. Despite a 15‑16 overall record last season, Penn State should have plenty incentive to better that record and impress Coach Washington.
