JEREMY LACHLAN
THE BLOCKBUSTER ADVENTURE THE WORLDS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR BEGINS AUGUST 2018.
A CHASE. A CAGE. A SACRIFICE. A GIRL WITH AMBER EYES. When a fierce quake strikes the remote island of Bluehaven, and her father disappears, Jane Doe is thrown headfirst into an epic quest to bring him home. But this ain’t no ordinary rescue mission. Her father is lost in a place between worlds; a dangerous labyrinth of shifting rooms, infernal booby traps and secret gateways. Jane would do anything to get him back, but someone else is searching for him, too. With a pyromaniac named Violet and a trickster named Hickory, Jane is about to discover that this adventure is even bigger on the inside than it looks …
THE BLOCKBUSTER ADVENTURE THE WORLDS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR BEGINS AUGUST 2018.
Meet the Author Jeremy Lachlan has always been obsessed with big epic adventures in both literature and film – big, bad blockbusters like Star Wars, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Jurassic Park. The Sydney-based bookseller was inspired to write Jane Doe while wandering lost through the Cairo Museum, and he wrote it while caring for his terminally ill father. “I’ve always been a bit obsessed with museums, old books, rusty keys, rope bridges, caves and secret forest paths. In a word: Adventure,” says Jeremy. “Writing Jane Doe allowed me to pack all of these things into one story. “I started writing it while caring for my dad. It was with me while I was grieving for him. It was with me when I came out as gay. It has been my constant companion, in a way, through all the ups and downs over the past ten years of my life. “In Jane Doe I set out to create a funny, entertaining, heart-felt thrill-ride packed with diverse characters in a unique world. Quite simply the kind of stories I love to read, of which I believe there are still too few.”
When HGE met Jane Doe… Every member of the Hardie Grant Egmont team remembers how the earth shook the first time they read Jane Doe and the Cradle of All Worlds!
Jane Doe is the best friend we all need – brave, funny and fiercely loyal – and I became instantly obsessed with her adventures in the Manor, I could hardly catch my breath as I cheered her on through explosions in secret passages, run-ins with carnivorous trees, and train-top battles with bazookas, all in the hopes of rescuing her dad. - Marisa Pintado, Publisher
It isn’t often that hyped books deliver to the level you expect, but Jane Doe and the Cradle of All Worlds delivers, indeed it exceeded expectations. A rollicking tale of adventure and discovery that gets you hooked virtually from the first page and doesn’t let you go! Can’t wait for the sequel.. - Tim Armstrong, Key Account Manager
Obviously the best thing about Jane Doe is that is it just SO FUNNY. I laughed out loud at multiple points! Jane is my dream heroine, and not a dull, overly-virtuous one. You can’t help but love her right from the opening pages. - Ella Meave, Assistant Editor
This book had me enraptured. I read it on the tiny screen of my mobile phone while taxiing through Beijing and was completely bowled over by the complexities of the Manor, the exhilarating plot and the brave and brilliant cast of characters. Jane Doe is simply break-taking. - Annabel Barker, Managing Director
I have never been as enchanted by a protagonist’s voice as I was when I first met Jane. I like my heroes funny, clever, brave and fierce, and Jane has all of that in spades. I would like to be her friend. Possibly her best friend?! This is the kind of book that lures the reluctant reader out of their cave – a book for the whole family to fall head over heels in love with. - Kate Brown, Commercial Director

Everything around us – trees, buildings, food, light, water, air and even ourselves – is composed of minute par\cles, smaller than a nanometre (a billionth of a metre). Quantum physics is the science of these par/cles and without it none of our electronic devices, from smartphones to computers and microwave ovens, would exist. But quantum physics also pushes us to the very boundaries of what we know about science, reality and the structure of the universe. The world of quantum physics is an amazing place, where quantum par\cles can do weird and wonderful things, ac\ng totally unlike the objects we experience in day-‐ to-‐day life. How can atoms exist in two places at once? And just how can a cat be dead and alive at the same \me?
