Skins TV show inspiration
Skins is a British teenage drama that follows the lives of a group of teenagers in Bristol. Each episode looks and analyses' a different character. The storylines cover topics such as dysfunctional families, mental illness, sexuality and abuse. The program features a group of 17-18 year old students.
How & Why the program inspired our idea of our opening/ ideas. • Skins inspired our initial ideas when planning, as the plots presented in the TV show are fairly simple, yet gripping to the audience. Although the program is not within the thriller Genre, some of the scenes and storylines are related to thriller genre. For instance stalking, the use of drugs and violence. We also thought that with the TV show characters being the same age as us ( 16-17yrs old studying at sixth form) our ideas would have been perhaps realistically based, rather than people are age trying to fit into adult roles.
Costumes and characters • The costumes is another aspect of the TV show that inspired us, as the characters are teenagers therefore dress and present themselves in this way, making it clear to the audience their ages. The character profiles also inspired us when coming up with the characters for our opening. Because of the innocent and dangerous characters presented throughout the show.
Character profiles which were inspiring Cassy is presented as a troubled innocent 17 year old girl, we thought her character role would influence ether my character ( Girl or Chloe's charcters of girl 2) as both of these charcters were to be presented as innocent but yet troubled by someone/ something. Effy is an independent, but dangerously involved with drugs, violence and suspicious people who are involved with all sorts of crimes, Effy influenced charley's charcters as she's presented to be a dangerous, and suspicious character.
