Guest Curators: Bellowhead This year, Bellowhead are curating our first Folk Young Musicians Series for the Spiegeltent and as judges for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk award, they have an amazing ear for spotting young, up and coming talent: “What you’re looking for is a sparkle of something, it’s not necessarily the polished performances but spotting potential. I’m amazed how professional and assured the performances are, it’s great to be involved.”

The Festival Spiegeltent returns bringing the magic of the mirrored tent to Crescent Gardens with an array of live music and family events with food and bars open daily between May 29 and June 7 only! Guest Curator: Gabby Young “I am so excited and honoured to be involved with this year’s Harrogate International Festival - it has been on my wish list for a long time. The bands I have chosen for the Spiegletent are all incredible musicians and know how to put on a show! Kitten and The Hip Friday 30th May | 8pm | Tickets: £12* Electro-Swing act Kitten & The Hip open the Spiegeltent with UK-based trombone player Ashley Slater who’s best known for his work with Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) in the band Freak Power. Combined with singer songwriter Kitten Quinn and the wonderful Gillan McLaughlin on drums, all on top of pumping backing tracks. Curated by Gabby Young.

The Gypsy Queens may have come from humble beginnings as buskers but they’re now known for intimate private performances for the likes of Elton John and Rod Stewart. Now it’s your turn to experience the A-list entertainers and the whole world is invited (well Harrogate). This event sold out in 2013 so book early!

Django à la Créole Monday 2nd June | 8pm Tickets: £12 Unreserved Django à la Créole is the fusion of Gypsy swing with hot syncopations from the streets of New Orleans, the Caribbean and Brazil.

Elegant and impassioned, New Orleansbased clarinettist Evan Christopher’s style is steeped in the tradition exemplified by early jazz masters such as Sidney Bechet, Jimmie Noone, and Barney Bigard. His band celebrates the music of the legendary Django Reinhardt and enlivens swing-era classics by re-creating a New Orleans ‘Hot Club’ right here in the Spiegeltent.

Gary Crosby’s Groundation Wednesday 4th June | 8pm Tickets: £12 Unreserved Acclaimed bassist and band leader Gary Crosby, famous for the storming Jazz Jamaica All Stars, shifts his focus for this new, more intimate project. A group discussion between four great players - progressive jazz with some Afrobeat accents interspersed with thoughtful ballads, creating an exceptional and intimate experience for the Spiegeltent audience. “Few people have done more for British jazz than Gary Crosby” – The Guardian

The ladies from the House of Burlesque bring an evening of exhilarating and extravagant entertainment to Harrogate. Hosted by the bawdy and beautiful Miss Tempest Rose, this show-stopping night of glamorous entertainment promises to be both charming and challenging. Hold on to your stockings!

Silent Disco 10.30pm til late After the Burlesque is over grab your headphones and experience a feast of musical choices thanks to three guest DJs spinning tunes via the medium of silent disco, plus spot performers and other surprises!

Nubiyan Twist Saturday 7th June | 8pm | Tickets: £12* A Leeds/London based Reggae Afro-beat Hip-Hop band combining soulful female vocals, heavy horns, live dubs, turntablism and a rhythm section from Brazil and UK.
