Telephone Bookings: Telephone booking opens to the general public on Monday 6th December. Please call the Festival office on 01423 562303 and a member of the team will be happy to take your booking. The office is open 9.30am-5.30pm Monday to Friday, Saturdays 10.00am - 4pm. Booking in Person: The team would be delighted to see you if you decide to come in to the office in person to book your tickets. Please be aware that we are located on the second floor. If this presents a problem, please phone in advance and one of our team shall meet you in our entrance hall on the ground floor.

Your Support Harrogate International Festivals is heavily reliant on the generous support it receives from its Friends, without which the year-round delivery of our prestigious Festivals, and Education and Community work would not be able to continue and develop. As we find ourselves in an increasingly challenging financial climate, the Arts are experiencing cuts and changes like never before. As you may be aware following the government’s recent Spending Review, Arts Council England are facing cuts of 30% over the next 4 years, and naturally as a result the shapes of arts organisations as we know them are likely to transform dramatically. Further knock-on effects of the government cuts are resulting in local councils also having to reconsider whether they fund the arts in the same way, if at all. Your support is invaluable. You can support the Festival for as little as £25 a year. See below for more information of becoming a Friend of the Festival, join now by calling 01423 562303.

MATTHEW TRUSLER

EMMA JOHNSON

GUY JOHNSTON

JOHN LENEHAN

Featuring two rising stars of the international string world, Matthew Trusler and Guy Johnston, the Sunday Series presents a stunning programme for unaccompanied violin and ‘cello. Johnston has forged a place as one of the leading cellists of his generation, enjoying international acclaim with orchestras worldwide. Similarly, Trusler himself has gained a reputation as Britain’s leading violinist, whilst also proving himself as an accomplished international recitalist. The two join forces in their recital to deliver a programme featuring works from Turnage’s commission for Johnston, to the well-known drama of Bartok and Ravel.

Emma Johnson is one of the few clarinettists to have established an international career as a soloist. One of the chief inspirations for Emma’s music making has been listening to great singers; when she plays the clarinet she tries to emulate the expressive power of the human voice. Another goal has been to get better acceptance for the clarinet as a solo classical instrument, and she is known for drawing upon a large range of musical expression in her concerts Following her highly-acclaimed appearances in previous years, Harrogate International Festivals are proud to welcome back the star to the stage for what will be a dynamic and vibrant performance, one not to be missed.

LEON McCAWLEY piano

SIMONE DINNERSTEIN

Having built on his earlier successes with the BBC Young Musician of the Year and Leeds International Piano Competition, Leon McCawley has established himself as one of England’s finest young pianists, and has in recent years also made his recital debuts in international quarters. McCawley’s programme takes us on a journey from the elegance of Mozart’s earlier sonata from a time when the fortepiano was just beginning to displace the harpsichord, through to the romanticism of Chopin and Brahms. The perfect start to the New Year and a new season.

New York-based pianist Dinnerstein has fast been gaining international attention as a commanding and charismatic artist, and as one of the most compelling women pianists performing today. Known for her intelligent and emotionally powerful performances, her Sunday Series programme exhibits the harmonic intensity of Bach, Schumann and Schubert, that won’t fail to leave an indelible impression on a mesmerised audience.
