High Pressure Products marked with “HP” are designed to operate with pressurised systems, which include mains supply combination boilers, unvented hot water systems or by pumping a gravity system. A minimum operating pressure of 1 bar is recommended.
Low Pressure Products marked with “HP/LP” are designed for both gravity systems and pressurised systems. Minimum operating pressure 0.1 bar is recommended which is a clear 1 metre vertical distance from the base of the cold-water tank to the water outlet.

Easy guide to choosing the correct shower Pumped Systems This is a gravity system with the addition of a booster pump to increase flow to particular taps, commonly used in the shower. The larger the pump the greater the flow rate.
Combination Boiler This is a mains fed pressurised system that instantaneously heats the mains cold water. This requires no cold or hot water storage tanks.
Pressurised/Unvented Systems This is a less common installation where the hot water is stored under mains pressure. This requires no cold-water storage in the loft and its performance is dependant on the mains supply pressure. For optimum performance all mixers should be supplied with balanced pressures.
Gravity Fed System Historically, the most common installation in the UK and is identified by the use of a cold storage tank normally in the loft space. Some taps may have gravity fed hot and mains cold, which is common in the kitchen mixer.

Our faucets ranges are available in a number of styles to suit various basin designs. Here, we explain the choices. Monobloc basin mixers are available in two styles: one-hand mixer – where water flow and temperature are operated together by one lever; and dual lever – hot and cold water are controlled independently. Three-hole basin mixer This set-up comprises two faucets and a central spout and is sometimes known as a two-hand centro set. They can be either deckor wall-mounted. Pillar faucets These tend to be associated with traditional-style faucets. The hot and cold water don’t meet until they reach the basin. Bath/shower mixer Hot and cold water are mixed in one single unit, a diverter valve allows the water to be used for both the bath and the shower. They can be either deck- or wall-mounted or concealed. Bath fillers and spouts The faucets work in conjunction with a spout they do not need to be located next to each other. Precision control GROHE has a worldwide reputation for manufacturing technically superior products designed for maximum comfort, enjoyment and ease of use. On the main control, intuitive dials for flow rate and temperature are supplemented by easy-to-read backlit digital displays. The flow rate is fully adjustable, while the temperature can be increased or decreased in increments of 0.5ºC. And thanks to GROHE TurboStat® technology the thermostat reacts instantly to any changes in water pressure, so there’s no risk of your shower suddenly becoming ice cold or scalding hot.
Main control The main control unit allows you to select the temperature, flow rate and to program the three personalised user buttons. These buttons illuminate when selected directly or via the remote control. Two backlit LCD panels display the water temperature and flow level and are controlled by the temperature and flow dials. The flow control dial can also be used to start the shower. To prevent children from turning the water above 38ºC, the SafeStop (temperature override) button must be pressed before raising the temperature above this level – so there’s no risk of accidental scalding. For convenience, the Pause button allows you to temporarily stop the water mid-shower – great if you want to wash your hair. When you’re ready to re-start your shower, press the button again and it will return to the exact same setting.
The On(SafeStart)/Off button will start the shower at the safe temperature of 38ºC – perfect for when you have guests staying. This button also turns the shower off. Remote control The remote control features three program selection buttons and an On(SafeStart)/Off button, these communicate the preferred setting with the main control. The program selection buttons turn the shower on, so that your perfect shower is waiting for you when you reach the bathroom. If you decide to postpone your shower, press the On(SafeStart)/Off button to turn the shower off. You can also use this button to start the shower at the comfortable temperature of 38ºC.

Before you start planning your custom shower there are a few important things you should consider to ensure your new shower will work efficiently and be a pleasure to use. How many showers can I combine? GROHE's extensive range of products can all be combined in numerous ways to make your custom shower. Do you require one or two handshowers? How many side jets would you like, and where do you want to position them? Perhaps you would prefer one large overhead shower surrounded by lots of body jets. The combinations are endless. Two restrictions are your water pressure and the maximum flow rate of the thermostat – your GROHE advisor will be able to help you add up the flow rates of each individual shower piece and check that the total does not exceed the maximum capacity of the thermostatic valve. Which thermostat should I choose? You should always use a GROHE thermostatic valve, for a safe and comfortable shower. Again, a GROHE representative can advise you on the best model to suit your requirements.

What about the drain? It may seem obvious, but the more water your shower produces the larger the drain required. It could be that you'll need two drains to cope with the amount of water that needs to be carried away. Will I have enough hot water? This is determined by the capacity of your hot water tank. Check that your tank is big enough to handle the amount of hot water you'll need. There is no point in having a large number of water outlets if there's nothing but cold water after a couple of minutes. Make sure your water heater output is sufficiently matched to your showering habits. How do I control all the outlets? Custom showers are generally designed with separate volume (on/off) controls for each outlet or bank of outlets. Typically, one for the headshower, one for the handshower and one for the body jets.

Haus Heusgen Krefeld, Germany Architect: Mies van der Rohe in the 1930’s Karl Amendt in 2001 For decades the architectural significance of Haus Heusgen remained a well-kept secret. Until recently, when its current owner, architect Karl Amendt, revealed the iconic status of the building. Built in the 1930s, Haus Heusgen was designed by architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the Huesgen family of textile industrialists. Following the death of the industrialist’s son, Amendt purchased the house and decided to give it a complete overhaul, before opening it to the public. “To me, it was very important to renovate Haus Heusgen in the sense of Mies van der Rohe. We were able to recondition a lot of the original items; however, I had to replace the bathroom fittings,” explains Amendt. “The Atrio two-handle mixer from GROHE fits in perfectly. It reflects the essential design elements of Bauhaus architecture, as if it had been designed especially for this ambience.”

The carrier system for washbasins and WCs used throughout the McLaren Technology Centre is the GROHE Rapid installation system. This system is suitable for virtually all installation and room types.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates Architect: WS Atkins PLC Le Rêve is one of the most exclusive and distinctive apartment buildings in Dubai. With stunning views of the Dubai coastline and the world-famous Palm Island, the 50-storey building was designed by architects WS Atkins PLC and interior designer Khuan Chew of KCA Associates – the same team responsible for the world-famous Burj Al Arab hotel. All 82 of the penthouseclass apartments feature the latest technology and are finished to the highest standard. Naturally, GROHE sanitary fittings were chosen to complement the luxurious interior schemes.
