GROWTH --
My thought process was to think of Harrow as not just the upper school aspect but also the lower school aspect. As I started in lower school, I could see the experience I went through to get to where I am today. Without Harrow, that wouldn’t happen. Therefore, I wanted to include a childlike element to the piece as a homage to my past years in Harrow.
3
I believe that Harrow has grown and improved throughout its 10 years, and I wanted to show that through my piece. Hence, I drew little doodles all around the page to symbolise where I was in my younger years and how I improved throughout Harrow's teachings and the opportunities given to me. I then drew other iconic Harrow symbols. For example, the lions as the lions are plastered everywhere around Harrow, even down to the logo. It connotes determination, which is something I believe all Harrow students have to come this far in life. The siu mai represent where Harrow HK is settled and how it brings diversity into the community. I also had the two hands shaking each other to represent the kindness and how open our community is. I had another hand throwing the Harrow hat to represent Bill. It shows that Harrow HK is very special with its own Harrow traditions that are past down through Harrow in England. There is also a rubber duck. It symbolises the yearly event: the Long Ducker. It is a very iconic event which, not only is it a good reason to exercise, but it also helps raise a large sum of money for the Harrow charities. It shows how innovative pupils, staff and parents are. Lastly, I chose to only use monochromatic colours in this piece as the main Harrow colour is navy blue. But I also did that to commemorate my prep years in a very special House with House colours of light blue and navy blue- Parks.

VIRTUES I wanted to draw something that represented Harrow and its values, not just the physical aspect of the school. I believe in representing things by their characteristics and beliefs instead of their outward appearance. Subsequently, I chose hands to express Harrow's virtues. They are as follows: humility, fellowship, honour, and courage. I wanted to choose hands as the motif because hands are one of the most expressive parts of a human, which I believe can convey many ideas and more abstract things. It links to the 10th year anniversary because I believe that what makes Harrow so special is its beliefs and values. Without Harrow's beliefs and values, we would not be able to be where we are today. Having a strong community is what keeps Harrow thriving. I used the hand on the top right corner reaching out to the hand depicting courage to symbolise inclusivity. Even though it is not the main four values of Harrow, I believe that inclusiveness is a value Hong Kong generally is very good at, as we have a very diverse society. In addition, each hand was drawn using the Harrow colours, which also conveyed inclusiveness as the hands weren't a certain skin colour only. As it is Harrow Hong Kong's 10th year anniversary, I wanted to show how this makes Harrow Hong Kong more modernised and open to new perspectives instead of following Harrow in England's path of being an all-boys school. The background depicting a lion is also a well-known symbol of Harrow, in every uniform and sign around Harrow. The lion also gives connotations of bravery and determination, which brings us to the roots of what Harrow strives for and links us back to Harrow in England as it was founded to provide free education for 30 (later extended to 40) poor boys of the parish. Overall, the piece was to celebrate the strong determination Harrow students have and to commemorate the momentous occasion: Harrow Hong Kong's 10th year anniversary!

I wanted to encompass the impact and creativity that Harrow students can bring to the world: the outer space represents that Harrow students have no limit. The Earth & planets inside the hat: shows how Harrow students can impact the whole of Earth and more It shows the innovative, creative and curious nature of Harrow and their pupils, and how we are capable of reaching beyond the school and impacting the world.

A Forest of Houses By Ethan Zhu, Y6 Darwin --
The forest originally was supposed to have the colours of houses on its trunks, but then I thought of treehouses, and instead just made them banners draped on the trees. These banners were the Upper School Houses, with Prep Houses being at the bottom and Senior Houses on top.

COURAGE

Signs to Success The Harrow mascot inspired me to create this drawing of a lion wearing the Harrow hat to symbolise the years of development and growth through attending Harrow. The colourful mane reflects the different cultures and range of diversities of pupils, and how they become mature over time

I wanted to produce something cute while representing Harrow, so I decided to draw a small lion as lions are used to represent courage, which is an important Harrow value.

After School This transcendent scenery is what I saw after school from my dorm room in Year 11. The tranquil and radiant sky is what I was able to enjoy every day after school. Hence, I wanted to mark down this important highlight by doing an observational painting of this scene. Harrow's scenery makes our days better. This scene has planted a remarkable memory for everyone at Harrow and the ones who have been at Harrow. n llhor e G 12 Y , an h eC l l ste E By

School Day
I wanted to show how Harrow Hong Kong overcame the difficulties during Covid-19. This links to the 10th Year Anniversary of Harrow because it includes drawings of us at school, but also on Zoom. It depicts the times where we were at school, showing all the fun activities that we did. For instance, going to lunch together and chatting in the locker rooms!

10 YEARS OF LAUGHTER AND JOY
By Mya Ip, Y6 Nightingale The characters are from my favourite video game, and they have a wide variety of ethnicities, talents, and cultures. I chose to have a wide colour palette to emphasise the happiness in the air.

GROWTH AND REFLECTION
In this piece, I decided to include two lions with Harrow hats on carrying number balloons in celebration of the 10th year anniversary. The older and wiser lion represents everything that we've achieved and gained over the years at Harrow Hong Kong whilst the lion cub represents a fresh start to a new decade.

FLOWER GARDEN The flowers at the top represent growing increasingly beautifully and extraordinarily. The students on the ‘HARROW’ sign are all different in terms of their race, gender, passion, uniform and style, presenting all the unique pupils in our school community. The lines behind the flowers are colours of my house, Nightingale, yellow and blue. The number '1' is similar to the pillars in the school's temple. By Karis Lau, Y8 Nightingale

PASSING ON THE LEGACY By Yutong Yan, Y9 Keller
23
I wanted to incorporate both Harrow UK and HK. I wanted to represent the UK passing on the torch, which is the “legacy” of Harrow to HK and acts like a bridge between the schools. Since Harrow UK is an all boys school mainly for British people, I wanted to depict Harrow HK as an Asian girl to show the diversity and how far Harrow has come as an institution.
With passing on the baton, a relay race focuses on both teamwork, leadership and individual training, and that can represent Harrow students and the individual schools. It can be linked to the theme since, as said above, Harrow UK is passing on its legacy to Harrow HK and in doing so allowing us to thrive as a school and community and celebrate its 10th anniversary. 24
Engulf
Dream290
25
This piece is titled "Engulf" because of the swirling background, it looks almost as if the guy is getting swallowed and fused with the blue waves, and I think the hint of grey/white here and there really bring contrast to the look. As you can see, there is a boy in uniform holding a Harrow hat smiling with a 10 drawn on his left cheek to celebrate Harrow’s 10th anniversary. By Tiffany Pan, Y8 Parks
I wanted to create something that was not only meaningful to me but also all my friends. So I decided to create a girl celebrating the 10th anniversary of Harrow. You my ask why there’s only one girl in the drawing. My answer to this would be because of the restrictions and limitations caused by this world pandemic, me and my friends are stuck in different parts of the world. But this is not something that can prevent us from celebrating an anniversary of our “second home.” This drawing is not only linked to celebration, but also remembering what Harrow has brought to us. I wanted to create something that celebrates the school's anniversary while having fun, so I have chosen to create my piece a cartoon style. I have included features such as the Harrow hat, uniform and former Harrovians who relate to Art. Other than that I have based my work on harrow colours.
