Seeing the world through children's eyes

Things we can learn from children

When was the last time you climbed a tree, took a running jump into a puddle or walked barefoot through the freshly mowed meadow while watching butterflies and beetles with unadulterated enthusiasm?

When did you last look at the world from a child's perspective?

As adults we are constantly thinking about our lives and our everyday life. This is a good thing, because after all, we have to plan our lives to a reasonable extent and have them under control. But every now and then it doesn't hurt to shift our perspective a little and see the world through the eyes of a child. Surely you have often found that when walking with a child that it takes a surprisingly long time to get anywhere. It is fascinating what children discover along the way. Full of curiosity, they encounter things and look at them much more consciously than we do – things that are of secondary importance to us. Here a ladybird, there a dandelion, there are still many beautiful daisies and look, there's a big leaf there that has to come too.

Does this sound familiar? Children are full of courage, curiosity and drive – great qualities that sometimes get lost with adulthood. What we can learn from children has nothing to do with knowledge. It is their way of living life. Time to rediscover the child's view of the world, which is full of adventures just waiting to be discovered.

"A child can always teach an adult three things: to be happy for no reason, to always be busy with something, and to know how to demand with all his might that which he desires."

Paulo Coelho
