ico Hulkenberg has a quirk — and contrary to his German heritage, it is not an all-consuming love of David Hasselhoff. [Though the same can’t be said for 80s German pop band Modern Talking, which he’s totally out and proud about.]

“I’m a bit of a tidy freak,” the 36-year-old Formula One driver admits from his room at The Dubai EDITION, where he’s posted up in between the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix — the first and second races of the F1 season — in March, recharging his batteries. “I like things clean. I often grab the Dyson at home and clean up as I go. I don’t like a mess.”

Hulkenberg confesses that he’s the kind of guy who “might” feel compelled to fix an uneven bedsheet corner (read between the lines here: “might” meaning “definitely does”), but stresses that he is “not as bad as David Beckham. I watched his series, and I am not as crazy as him!”

But he does admit that when it comes to his car, he does have Beckham-like tendencies. “I really hate having my car dirty. I feel dirty when my car is dirty,” he shudders.

Which is fair, right? His profession does involve spending copious amounts of time rolling around on four wheels, after all. Anyhow, maybe Hulkenberg isn’t as extra as Becks, who creeps around his house late at night after his family is down for the count, trimming down candlewicks and spraying streaky windows into submission, but it’s not hard to identify a common thread here: both are athletes, and both are driven to succeed.

Incidentally, this is also the name of the Netflix series that pushed F1 into the spotlight, transforming its drivers into superstars. Hulkenberg a.k.a. “The Hulk” (due solely to his last name, he explains, lest anyone think he transforms into a mean, green cleaning machine at night) — then with Renault, featured prominently in the series’ second season, which documented how the arrival of Daniel Ricciardo — now with Racing Bulls — eventually brought upon Hulkenberg’s replacement by Esteban Ocon.

Although his frustration at having no wins or podium placements throughout his career was the focus of his personal narrative, Hulkenberg feels that Drive to Survive was a positive thing for F1 in general. “[The series] put F1 on the map for a lot of people, especially in North America, but also globally. It’s recognized around the world by a lot more people, and it’s made the drivers a lot more popular. It’s done a lot for everyone on the commercial side, putting us on a bigger and more attractive stage. I definitely feel that as one of the drivers, I’m approached all the time. Usually, it’s along the lines of, ‘You’re a great driver, I like you.’ People don’t come up and say, ‘Hey, you’re shit,’” he says with a self-deprecating laugh.

Regardless, after failing to meet his performance clause with Renault in 2020, Hulkenberg was released from the team, which was enough to make the German driver rethink his life choices. Ultimately, he decided to hang up his helmet and retire from Formula One. “Until 2019, I had already raced in F1 for 10 years, and to compete on the highest level with more than 20 race weekends per year can be very tiring. There is a lot of pressure and no room for mistakes. [And so], in 2019, something changed when my former team decided not to renew my contract. It was the first time I had ever thought about a break, but I finally decided to step away from the sport,” he explains, noting that the decision was beneficial, and one he would make again. “Overall, it was a good decision. I created some space for the private Nico. I spent as much time as I could with family and friends, as well as my

girlfriend [Egle Ruskyte]; I married her and later became a dad [to now twoyear-old daughter Noemi Sky].”

But his need to compete outweighed his frustration with the sport. He could not stay out of the cockpit for long, and opted to align with Racing Point (previously known as Force India), and then, in 2021, Aston Martin as the team’s reserve driver [he was dubbed the “super-sub” in 2022 after taking the place of Sebastian Vettel, who had tested positive for Covid, for the opening two races of the season]. But it was only in 2023 that he made his full-time, leading man return for his tenth F1 campaign, joining MoneyGram Haas, the only American team competing in Formula One.

“Racing was always part of my thoughts,” Hulkenberg admits now. “I started to miss the competition and the adrenaline. The hunger got bigger and bigger after three years without a full-time drive, [which is why] I tried everything to come back to F1 again. Luckily, it worked out. Now, I feel more balanced and more ready than ever before.”

His optimism is especially needed now given that his comeback year was a tough one. At the end of the season, during which he partnered with Kevin Magnussen — replacing fellow German compatriot Mick Schumacher — the team struggled with tire wear, and Hulkenberg finished sixteenth in the championship with nine points. Still, he impressively qualified in the top 10 11 times (three times in sprint qualifying and eight times in normal qualifying), despite being out of the game for three seasons.

“Last year was challenging — a very difficult year, sporting-wise — and we want to bounce back and recover from that,” he confesses, continuing, “At the start of every season, the team has a target goal. Last year, that was to come in sixth or seventh. The year started OK, but then, as it went on, we didn’t manage to improve our performance; we actually slipped back in the order. By the end of the season, we weren’t very competitive at all, which resulted in no good point finishes, and put us on the back foot. It wasn’t great, obviously, but it’s a sport, and these things can happen… even though nobody wants them to.”

But things seem to be looking up — or at least, they did at the very start of the season. Though Hulkenberg still holds the record for the most Formula One career starts without a podium finish, as he enters his second year with the team, something seems to have shifted. After our chat, he excelled in Jeddah, banking his first points finish in a Grand Prix since the 2023 Australian Grand Prix — effectively climbing into the top 10 spot, though there have been a few frustrations and disappointments since.

But overall, the future is, if not bright, bright-er. “This year, there’s been a bit of a change,” he shares. “The team principal has changed; [Guenther Steiner] is not with the team anymore. There’s been some reshuffling. It always felt like we were going backward, but we focused a lot over the winter to address that.”

The biggest change of all, perhaps, is his attitude: one might say he’s pumping the brakes on pressure. Hulkenberg plans on letting things ride and doing his very best to place, despite certain limitations (such as the team’s VF-24 car and continual tire degradation issues, carried over from 2023, that he feels have impeded his team’s success). But one should always have hope, and Hulkenberg most definitely does. “Things seem to be in a better and healthier place now, but really, it’s still early days.”

So basically, watch this space.

lthough his career has had many stops and starts, Nico Hulkenberg wouldn’t trade it for anything — the man is literally living his dream. He was just a tow-headed seven-year-old kid, growing up in the Rhine region of West Germany, whose family owned a legacy transport truck company. Driving was always in his blood. He says, when he decided that he would one day become a racecar driver, and that dream happened very early on. Now, almost 30 years later, he’s one of the rare few who not only achieved his childhood fantasy but is still happily living it every day.

This fact is not lost on him. The stoic, slightly sardonic German credits this in part to perseverance, and in part to that all-consuming love he never lost for the sport. He does not, as I’ve discovered, mince words in saying so. “I have a passion for it, and I love what I do. Plus, I’m pretty good at it. In our sport, obviously, you have the stopwatch and the lap times, and they never lie. If you are faster than anybody else, and you beat anybody else, it means you’re good and you can’t hide it. That’s what makes racing so special. F1 is such a rush, such a thrill. Being at the start of a Grand Prix, fighting the other 19 best drivers in the world, wheel to wheel. There’s nothing like it,” he enthuses (stoically, of course — after all, he is German).

Which is why, of course, it’s a dream come true. But this dream didn’t just become reality overnight: Hulkenberg put the work in, and slowly but surely forged his path to Formula One. After establishing that this was to be his chosen path, he turned to go-karting, winning the German Junior Kart Championship at the age of 15 in 2002. A year later, he would go on to win the German Kart Championship.

He made the leap to open-wheel racing soon after, winning the 2005 Formula BMW ADAC during his debut. The following winter, he joined A1 Team Germany for the A1 Grand Prix Championship, otherwise known as “The World Cup of Motorsport.” A return to Formula 3 briefly ensued before he joined Williams as their test driver; he became a full-time Formula 1 driver for said team in 2010 for one season only, moving on to Force India first as a reserve driver in 2011, and then full-time the following year. This was followed by a one-year move to Sauber in 2013 before he rejoined Force India to drive alongside Sergio “Checo” Pérez from 2014 to 2016. In the midst of this time, he made history by becoming the first active Formula 1 driver to win the historic Le Mans 24 Hours in 24 years. It was a strong year overall: his campaign featured three top-six place finishes in Austria, Japan, and Brazil.

And then came the Netflix-documented Renault years, following the team’s first season back in the sport. The partnership would last for three seasons, where Hulkenberg partnered with drivers including Ricciardo, Jolyon Palmer, and Carlos Sainz. He finished tenth in the World Drivers’ Championship in his first year (2017), following multiple Q3 appearances and a trio of sixth-place finishes. In 2018, he would accumulate enough points to finish a career-best seventh place in the standings and secure the fifth place at Monaco, where he currently lives.

Those aforementioned road bump-riddled ensuing years don’t need mentioning again, but they were years that are important to the story of Nico Hulkenberg, as they led him to his current place in the F1 hierarchy: a current number 11 world ranking. His goal is to break the top 10, of course, but also, to drive to the best of his abilities. Hulkenberg wants to win.

That means staying focused, not partying, gallivanting, or getting rowdy around the world with his fellow drivers and friends such as Pérez, Ricciardo, Sainz, and Max Verstappen... regardless of how tantalizing the lure of the F1 lifestyle can be. He has no desire to play tourist or to mess around... plus he’s a new dad, and there’s sleepless nights enough without adding rabble-rousing into the mix. “For me, over the last 15 years, it’s been a lot of the same thing. So, eventually, you get to know the place, and you do less of the cultural and sightseeing things; it becomes normal. Also, when we go to a race, it’s work. And for my part, I arrive with the mindset to come and work, not to play.”

That said, he does love specific cities… for their circuits. He’s even able to resist the lure of Miami — the ultimate party city — and enjoys driving there, even if it’s not as iconic (yet) as Silverstone or Monaco.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a priority circuit for me — it’s new to the F1 calendar but the first two were cool and successful. It’s a stunning venue, and I love how they implement it in and around Hard Rock Stadium. Most of the drivers really like it; it’s got a good flow to it, and it’s challenging.” As for the Magic City itself, he says, “I’m a big fan of Miami — the vibe, the energy, the feel. It’s just a massively fun place.”

At this stage in his life, though, Hulkenberg is more focused on family than fun. And for that, there’s truly no place like home — home being the principality of Monaco, where he spends most of the off-season enjoying pottering around with his luxury watch and car collections, the former of which he refers to as his “secret passion and weak spot,” and the latter of which includes wheels from Pagani, Bugatti, and Koenigsegg.

He says, “My wife and I have a young daughter, so naturally we’re a bit more at home now because that is a different dynamic and it changed our lives. Last year, especially at the end, there was a lot of traveling, so now we enjoy just being at home, not being at an airport or on a plane, and hanging out with friends doing normal, casual stuff. I really used [the off-season] as an opportunity to relax, disconnect, and refresh. Then it’s ‘Here we go again, you’re back at full capacity, fully focused and motivated.’ But until then, because there’s no driving, it’s chilly billy for us.”

In general, Hulk (unlike his namesake) does seem chill, but no-nonsense, no BS — a total straight shooter. He sees himself this way, too, but also as “competitive, passionate, and someone who doesn’t take himself too seriously. I’m pretty good at cracking jokes, especially about myself. I’m someone who enjoys life.”

And for the orderly, efficient German, that means he enjoys all facets of his life — especially his day job. “I love what I do; it doesn’t feel like work,” he declares. “It’s what I’ve been passionate about all my life, what I’ve always wanted to do, and who I’ve wanted to be since I was a little kid. I’m very happy and fortunate that I’m still carrying that out and following my passion. It’s a great luxury to be able to do what you want, how you want, and to have a certain independence. So yes, I’m happy — but pure happiness is just a feeling: true happiness is having a work-life balance. I have that — I have a great family, a great wife, a beautiful young daughter. I have a pretty privileged life. It’s going well at the moment, but you have to work to maintain it and to keep it.”

And work he will. Though it’s his focus, it’s not his only priority. He says, “This year, my personal goals are to have fun, to make the most of it, and to just enjoy the ride.”

Personally, it doesn’t sound like Hulkenberg is driving to survive any longer. He’s rewriting his story at long last, and this time, he’s thriving.

Other notable performers include Ed Sheeran on Saturday, May 4, and John Summit on Sunday, May 5, both of whom will be playing live at the Hard Rock Beach Club on-site at the Miami International Autodrome.

Also, for the first time, Miami has been selected as one of the six prestigious locations to host a Sprint race in 2024 (alongside Shanghai, Brazil, and Qatar, among others). Scheduled for May 4, the Sprint, which is about one-third the length of a Grand Prix (52 mi), was designed to bring a little more intensity and thrill to fans attending throughout the weekend.

Luxury happenings, like the Paddock Club, the 72 Club, and the Casa Tua Trackside Club, are set to make their grand return this year, offering one-of-a-kind experiences at every turn. With two years under its belt, the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix is expected to continue raising the bar in the Magic City.

IN HONOR OF EARTH DAY (APRIL 22) WE SAT DOWN WITH LIVIA FIRTH, MBE, THE founder of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards, a sustainable ceremony uniting the power of fashion and entertainment for positive transformation, which returned for its second annual event during Oscar week. Championing interconnected cultural change and the most inspiring efforts that drive it, the GCFA, and its recent initiative, the Green Carpet Challenge, celebrates people and organizations that are crucial to collective transformation. This year’s event was co-chaired by some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Cate Blanchett, Julianne Moore, Zendaya, Annie Lennox, and Helen Hunt, as well as Quannah Chasinghorse, Minister of Indigenous People of Brazil Sônia Guajajara, and Ugandan climate justice activist Vanessa Nakate. We sat down with Firth to discuss how she’s making the world a better place, one fashionable footstep at a time.

What made you start the Green Carpet Challenge and how has it evolved? When I started it in 2010, it was out of the coming together of different factors: an opportunity — [estranged husband Colin Firth] being nominated for Tom Ford’s A Single Man movie and knowing that, throughout awards season, people would start focusing on what I was wearing; a realization — fashion has one of the biggest environmental and social impacts, and yet, no one thinks about that when they get dressed in the morning; and a fact — there is no bigger communication platform than the red carpet. The evolution has been almost directly proportionate with the amplification it wanted to have — from being just me, to challenging the designers, to involving the celebrities and the stylists, to getting the sustainable fashion conversation mainstream. From Green Carpet Challenge, we went into Green Carpet Fashion Awards and 14 years later, it is one of the biggest platforms to promote transformation in a positive way.

What is the overlying purpose of the challenge and awards? How do you specifically give back to the environment?

It’s about all of us understanding the connection that fashion has. As Dan McDougall (Amnesty Award-winning journalist and filmmaker) says, ‘“fashion is the only red line that runs through all our lives.” It represents one of the biggest connection points for hundreds of millions of people across our world. It’s like a chain reaction of individuals colliding with others and influencing their lives without realizing it. The GCFA puts together all these dots, it joins them, and hopefully, makes you look at the bigger picture and makes you want to participate in the change.

How did the Green Carpet Fashion Awards come to be, and how did you come up with the archetypes? Which women embodies each of these archetypes?

We needed to highlight archetypes that are needed in our society and with whom people can identify. It is not just about one kind of person, or one kind of job, or one kind of activist. We need healers, sages, rebels, and so on. In this

spirit, I don’t think anyone represents all of them; you can be a healer without being a rebel or a visionary, you know? And some days, you can feel like a rebel and others, you can feel like a messenger. I think I am an agitator (my title at work is even chief agitator officer). There is no archetype for that, but you just gave me the idea of creating that for next year’s edition!

It isn’t easy being green... or is it? How do you implement being ecofriendly into your everyday routine at home?

What if we substituted the word “eco-friendly” with “respect”? This is what it is about — having respect for “other” — whether it is the planet or the people around you or who make things for you, produce your food, your clothes, your car, and so on. How difficult it is to have respect?

Why is giving back so important to you?

It is about what I receive every day, not what I give every day. When you have a relationship of co-dependence, or the famous “I am because you are,” then my health, my wealth, and my well-being depend on what I give back. It’s this symbiotic relationship, or solidarity, that makes a difference.

What is the greatest luxury in life and why?

Time. We do not have it anymore. We need to use it wisely if we want to save humanity. Earth will totally survive without us, and sometimes, I think may be even better.

The performance featured 56 dancers who, through a series of 70 non-linear acts, brought over 400 objects to life, ranging from furniture and lighting to textiles and tableware.

Audemars Piguet taps watch aficionado John Mayer to design a new Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar.

“MY FAVORITE WATCHES HAVE DIALS THAT YOU CAN ENDLESSLY stare at. A great watch dial feels like a picture window — you look into it, not at it. In the case of this QP, it’s like looking up at a moonless sky. There is a true sense of nature in it. And when you couple that sense of depth and vastness with the complication of a perpetual calendar, it is a very powerful combination of technical prowess and esthetic design,” notes John Mayer on his new creation with Audemars Piguet. As I was poking through the release of the new timepiece, one thing remained clear to me: Mayer’s deep connection to timepieces and their intricacies almost mirror his deep connection to the lyrics in his [many] acclaimed songs. As a long-time friend of AP, a watch enthusiast, and now the “Creative Conduit” for the brand, Mayer has combined his knack and fascination for timepieces with the esteemed heritage of AP to partner on the new Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar “John Mayer” Limited Edition, produced in only 200 copies.

At the surface, the watch is simply stunning with a dynamic dial that echoes Mayer’s sentiment on the dial becoming a “picture window,” combining 18K white gold with a new “Crystal Sky” dial in a range of blue hues. Mayer closely collaborated with the AP design teams to craft this dial, and through meticulous craftsmanship, the intricate pattern was formed atom by atom via electroforming. In this exclusive edition, the motif is presented in a rich blue hue using Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD), enhancing its depth and luminosity, while subdials and calendar indications offer functional elegance against the textured backdrop.

To improve the overall legibility, Mayer also introduced subtle modifications to the perpetual calendar display. For example, the “31”

of the date subdial is usually red on modern Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar models, but this time, it is printed in white. Also, the two numerals of the “31” are now smaller in size and slightly stepped to distinguish them from the adjacent “1.” He also selected a lighter blue shade for the week indicator that “could fall back into the dial when simply reading the time but could easily be found when looking to read the week complication,” as he explains. And for the first time, the “Swiss Made” inscription is printed in white at the bottom of the moon phase subdial rather than on the dial’s outer edge at six o’clock.

The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar “John Mayer” Limited Edition will also be the last limited edition equipped with the brand’s self-winding perpetual calendar movement, Caliber 5134, marking the end to a legendary history that began over 45 years ago. Today, Caliber 5134 ensures accurate date tracking, accommodating leap years and requiring manual correction only once in 2100, while boasting a frequency of 2.75 Hz and a 40-hour power reserve. The caliber is shown through the sapphire caseback, revealing intricate decorations such as Côtes de Genève and a rhodium-toned 22-carat pink gold openworked oscillating weight adorned with Audemars Piguet’s signature Tapisserie motif.

For Mayer, there is no higher complication: “For me, the perpetual calendar is the ultimate complication, the benchmark for high horology, and though there are complications that are more complex, the historical footing of the QP in the history of watchmaking is what makes it stand out. Caliber 5134 will go down in history as one that defined an era of watch collecting — and public enthusiasm at large — for a complication that had not enjoyed that kind of attention and desire before,” he notes.

2024 Aston Martin DB12

007 Never Had It So Good.

YOU LIKELY NOTICED THAT ASTON MARTIN HAS HAD A LONG RUN of cars starting with “DB.” That designation came from David Brown, the owner of the company from 1947. The company’s lineup has included a “DB”-branded car for more than 75 years.

The one-off, so to speak, in the run of numbers was the DB10 which, as it turns out, was made in very limited production (only ten units) for use in the 2014 James Bond film Spectre. That was quite the homage to a fifty-year collaboration between the James Bond films and the storied car manufacturer (the first such alliance being the DB5 in the 1964 film Goldfinger). Not long thereafter, the DB11 was announced, and it was a stunner. Large clamshell hood (all one piece with upper fenders attached, opening forward), as svelte as it was fast. So how to improve on that, which surprisingly has been around for over ten years? Behold the DB12.

This newest iteration of the Aston road kings dubbed by them as the “World’s First Super Tourer” is even more sculptural than its

predecessor. It’s a gorgeous machine but, even more surprisingly, it’s quicker, quieter, and even more comfortable than the DB11 that it replaces. It even was named car of the year by a prestigious car magazine, beating out the McLaren Artura and the Bentley Flying Spur Speed.

So, what does it take to create such a winner? Starting with the V8 motor, the DB12 has over 670 horsepower with 590 pound feet of torque, potent enough to motivate this big touring machine (weighing about two tons) from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds. The twin-turbo engine is mated to a very slick eight-speed transmission an automatic trans which can be driven in manual mode with the paddle shifters. Thoughtfully, there’s even an exhaust-sound adjustment button and several driving modes GT, Sport, Sport+, Individual, and Wet. Needless to say, my normal start-up sequence includes the loud button, choosing the Sport+ mode, selecting the manual transmission and reducing (or completely turning off) the traction-control switch.

As a long-time devotee of the brand, I can say that Astons present several delights, including their sinuous lines and sleek, sumptuous curves. When opening the door, you get to experience the wafting sweet fragrance of premium leather and marvel at the beautiful tooling that presents interesting designs. Sliding into the driver’s seat, you feel coddled, almost like wearing a custom suit that’s well-made and fitted. And when firing up the motor, you can’t wait to drive off, at one with the machine, loving the ergonomics, sound, and speed.

While this two-plus-two (which, as usual, has a small back seat) coupe is heavier than many sports cars, the performance is impressive. With an impressive a top speed just north of 200 miles per hour, what struck me most was the way the car rode so smoothly, especially on uneven surfaces, and then handled through the corners like a slot car. No doubt, the 22-inch wheels help, but the new adaptive dampers and first-of-its-kind Aston e-differential get most of the credit. When added to the new Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S tires (developed specifically for the DB12) that include what’s become de rigueur — noise-cancelling foam inserts inside each tire — the DB12’s road-going manners are awesome. Often, power and performance are the enemy of calm and comfort, and vice versa, but this latest Aston does both so well that it truly is a grand tourer.

Another major improvement over the DB11 is that this newer model has its own switchgear, rather than having it come from the MercedesBenz parts bin, as Aston had done for many years. The result is that everything each driver touches is metal or leather-wrapped and feels substantial and luxurious. The new transmission seems slicker and smoother-shifting than the earlier version and the lower rear-end gearing makes for a quicker response time when accelerating. “My” DB12 had the optional Bowers & Wilkins 15-speaker 1,170-watt sound system, which added to the aural delights, especially as the car can be quiet enough to really enjoy the music, be it Billy Joel, Aaron Copland, Robbie Williams, The Fugs, or Blodwyn Pig (now that’s a playlist!)

As a side note, at press time for this story, I also was able to enjoy the drop-top version of this fine machine, the DB12 Volante, but that’s a tale for another time since the information embargo imposed on the Volante extends until after this article goes to press. Stay tuned, though, as it’s a real stunner.

I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so you may not agree with my raves about the design of the DB12, but when coupled with exemplary performance, comfort, world-class handling, and more, the DB12 coupe is one of the top grand touring cars made today — a Super Tourer indeed.

ON FEBRUARY 5, THE ANNUAL HAUTE 100 CELEBRATION kicked off the year with a bang at Miami’s latest haute spot, Delilah Miami by the h.wood Group. An evening dedicated to honoring the most influential individuals in Miami, the Haute 100 extravaganza, in partnership with The Macallan and the EBH Group, is truly an unparalleled event. Delilah Miami welcomed guests to its opulent dining space where they were greeted by custom-designed artworks courtesy of celebrity artist Johnathan Schultz before indulging in The Macallan’s “Haute Fashioned,” a concoction of The Macallan 12 Double Cask paired with honey simple syrup and orange bitters. Following cocktails, guests made their way to the main dining room to take in the extravagant culinary experience at Delilah Miami. Before dinner commenced, Kamal Hotchandani, CEO of Haute Media Group, took center stage to express his gratitude to the event partners. He then introduced Mayor Francis Suarez, who passionately thanked the members of the Haute 100 2023 Miami List, declaring that the city of Miami was just getting started on its path to greatness. Then, Katie Nahat, The Macallan’s National Brand Ambassador, raised a toast on behalf of the brand. Guests enjoyed a coursed dinner, which featured Delilah Miami’s signature dishes like the wagyu carpaccio, scallops, and filet mignon, followed by desserts like the “Haute 100” brownie. IN THE WORLD OF CINCORO TEQUILA, EVERY DAY IS NATIONAL Margarita Day. However, February 22 makes it official: this day is dedicated to the art of tequila and the margarita. To celebrate this moment, premium tequila brand Cincoro and Haute Living came together to host an intimate dinner at Major Food Group’s ZZ’s Club in Miami. To start the evening, guests indulged in specialty cocktails, including the Cincoro spicy matcha margarita (perhaps the highlight of the night, crafted with Cincoro blanco, matcha, lime, agave, and jalapeño), the Cincoro lychee martini, the Cincoro Buddha old-fashioned, and the Cincoro espresso martini. Guests were then welcomed by Haute Media Group CEO, Kamal Hotchandani, who expressed his gratitude that so many cultural curators and creators gathered together ahead of the Miami Food Festival to toast Cincoro Tequila. Following cocktails, guests enjoyed a multi-course dinner with some of ZZ’s Club’s signature dishes like the miso Caesar salad, lobster dumplings, skirt steak, and more. Each course was uniquely paired with Cincoro’s blanco, reposado, and añejo tequilas to enhance the flavors of the dinner. ON FEBRUARY 15, THINGS HEATED UP AS HAUTE LIVING CELEBRATED its February 2024 Miami cover star and food phenomenon chef Gordon Ramsay. Welcoming Ramsay’s latest Miami endeavor, Lucky Cat, Haute Living hosted an intimate cocktail and dinner. A pristine presentation of the zanmai omakase started the night, followed by caviar with bao roses and umami butter, lamb dumplings, and more. Ramsay welcomed the guests and explained his fiery passion for Lucky Cat and the years that have gone into creating the restaurant concept. Kamal Hotchandani, the CEO of Haute Media Group, thanked Ramsay for leading the dinner and being the inspiring chef he is. Dana Cohen — an acclaimed art strategist — then presented a bespoke painting to Ramsay, imagined by celebrity artist Johnathan Schultz, made with 23 karat gold. For the main course, Ramsay blew guests away, serving BBQ sea bream, exclusive apple-fed A5 Shinshu striploin, and his must-have baked clay pot glass noodles; dinner ended with a delicious sticky tamarind cake. The evening set the tone for Ramsay’s second-ever Miami restaurant, with notable guests in attendance like Gil Dezer, Krishan Arora, Nuaman Tyyeb, David Comite, Thomas Kato, Aurélie Bard, Annick Timmer, and more.
