Chicago Auto Show Revving Engines For February Return
hicago was one of America’s most prosperous cities in its early days due to its industrial, blue-collar nature. This industrial nature made it a pivotal part of early automobile manufacturing. While Detroit has played the biggest role in the history of the U.S automobile, Chicago isn’t far behind as a city that made a pivotal impact on the early days of car manufacturing. This aspect of Chicago’s great history is honored and continued in the form of the Chicago Auto Show, a massive showcase that is set to return to the city in 2022. The Chicago Auto Show is a huge event with an illustrious history. It first took
place in 1901, and this year’s show is set to be the 114th iteration. It is the largest auto show in North America, drawing in huge crowds of car enthusiasts. Last year, the show had to be postponed to July and held in a different format, but this year, the engines are revved, and the show is set to return to its traditional date and setting. The Chicago Auto Show is set to take place from February 12th-21st at South Exhibit Hall at McCormick Place. There will be over one million square feet of exhibits and displays, making it an event you might have to go to multiple times to catch everything. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and children. This will be a great showcase whether
you are a car lover or just want to be at a major event with a lively atmosphere. If you are a car lover, this is the absolute best place to be. This is a massive auto show that will feature a huge variety of different cars from many of the top automotive brands in the world. If you’re looking for luxury brands, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Rolls Royce, and Lamborghini will all have displays. For more conventional options, most of the top car makers globally, like Honda, Ford, Toyota, and Volkswagen, will be showcased. It won’t just be the standard models from these carmakers you see on display. There will be several concept cars at the event. These are prototype vehicles that aren’t mass-produced but are meant to showcase an idea, a style,
or a new technology. They are unique and exciting to look at because they give you a sense of where the industry’s future is headed. There will be over a dozen concept vehicles displayed. There will also be debut and production vehicles, meaning cars that are being introduced or still in production. While much of the show’s fun is browsing incredible vehicles that highlight the innovations and skills of the biggest automakers in the world, there is more to this event than that. There will also be several events and appearances. While the calendar of appearances and events hasn’t been set, there are educational, exciting, and family-friendly activities and guests that center around the automotive industry every year. There are always different additions to the event that make it a fun occasion for all. There are car simulators, famous mascots, and booths that offer things like t-shirt printing and more. It is an event meant to celebrate innovation and technology, and there are numerous incredible displays of modern science.
Before the Auto Show even begins, there is a major event. First Look for Charity is a charitable occasion that regularly raises millions of dollars for 17 Chicago nonprofits. It is held the night before the first day of the Auto Show, with all the displays in place. There are delicious drinks, gourmet hors d’oeuvres and desserts, and exclusive early access to the show. Tickets for this event are significantly pricier, with a $275 cost, but proceeds go to charitable causes. Attendees of this event have the opportunity to win one of two brand new vehicles in a draw. Overall, the Chicago Auto Show is a major occasion set to return to form this year. After a 2021 that was upended by the pandemic, the show looks set to return to normal. It will be a massive display of gorgeous vehicles, new and old, from many of the top automobile companies in the world.
