welcome
Hello and welcome to the winter edition of HaveringLife magazine. We are very proud to bring you a mix of articles and style pages, from fashion and interiors, to local events and food. This issue we are getting into the Christmas mood and have put together a gift guide to suit all budgets, whether you are looking for something special for someone special, or stocking fillers for the kids. We take a closer look at Havering’s fantastic libraries. Far from just being book lenders, our libraries offer a huge range of other activities, from pampering to cookery. HaveringLife also chats to some of the winners of the Havering Business Awards to find out what makes them stand out above the rest, and celebrates the huge talent our borough has to offer. We hope you enjoy this latest issue and would love to hear your feedback, get in touch by emailing hello@haveringlife.co.uk.
With many thanks to: Kelly Murfet, Michelle Fitzgibbons, Sarah Ion, Natasha Ridley, Jill Willis, David Christie, Kaci Sherman, Michelle Andreou, Tracy Giddings and Paul Wade

our 18th birthday in November, and for me this double award win demonstrates that we are just as dedicated to excellence as we were when I first opened the doors and welcomed in my first client in 1995. What do you think makes The Vanilla Room award winning? We are committed to providing excellence to our clients. We invest extremely heavily in training and staff mentoring, and this investment has been increased in recent years. Apprentice of the year: Ellie Ford at The Vanilla Ellie Room After completing her GCSEs at 16 and deciding to pursue a career in hairdressing, Ellie Ford, now 19, enrolled as a TVR apprentice on the ‘Haircamp’ programme in 2010 after her induction working as a Saturday Girl at the salon.
What have you learnt on your apprenticeship with TVR? I have the best opportunity to learn and become an outstanding hairdresser at TVR. Working day-today with a team of stylists and their clients means that the training is intense, and opportunities to stretch myself are available frequently. How did you feel when you won? So happy. It’s fantastic to be recognised as a hard worker and dedicated to my career. There are lots of apprentice schemes in Havering, and to be highlighted as the best makes me very proud.
