Andy Bradshaw
Havre Public School's Classified Employee of the Year
2019
Congratulations to the Havre Public Schools’ 2019 Classified Employee of the Year Andrew “Andy” Bradshaw. Andy represents the non-teaching employees of the district involving clerical, maintenance, custodial, technology, school food service, para professional, nurse, and transportation workers. Andy’s employment area is in the Transportation Department as the Havre Public School Diesel Technician. Andy was introduced as the Classified Employee of the Year in the 2019 at the yearly Pride Celebration within the school district. He was announced with these kind words “He has brought new practices, bringing better efficiency into the workplace and has been receptive of ideas brought forth by others. He is always eager to pitch in outside of regular hours when bad weather or breakdowns occur. His values, attention to detail and reinforcement of best practices, all come together to make him a great asset to the transportation department. His time with the bus garage has made it run smoother, creating a better working environment for others.” Havre Public Schools’ had additional outstanding employees on the nomination list. They include Heidi Kinsella and Laurie Morse from the High School clerical department, Aaron Hanson at Robins from the technology department, Darla Welch from the Sunnyside paraprofessionals department and Bridget Lee from the Middle School food service department. Andy graduated from Havre High in 2010 and continued to pursue his education at MSU Northern graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Diesel Technology and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Automotive Technology. He gained experience during college from working at Tilleman Motor Company as an Automotive Technician and a summer internship in Williston North Dakota for Haliburton. Out of college, Andy moved to Big Fork and worked for a small automotive shop then moved to Billings to work for Tractor and Equipment Company as a Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician. He learned a tremendous amount from the Billings company but decided to move back home when his wife received a position as a first grade teacher in Havre in 2015. His Havre Public Schools career started in November of 2015 as the Transportation Mechanic. Andy has been noted for his values and brilliance in the workplace for creating new ways to become more efficient and cost effective. His values can be seen in his everyday attitude in the workplace with his kind words towards our bus drivers, “They are some of the best people I have ever worked with.” In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Laura and his boys Benjamin and Owen who are 3 years and 7 months, respectively. His family is the greatest joy in his life and they are excited to spend their summers in their Beaver Creek cabin.
Thanks for your continued dedication to Havre Public Schools Andy Bradshaw!

Smart Snacks in Schools
Superintendent’s Message… The prinng of our Spring Community Educaon flyer signals we are nearing the end of another school year. We are extremely thankful for the connued support we have received from the Havre community and have been able to address some important infrastructure concerns. This past summer we completed a renovaon and upgrade of the bathrooms at Havre High School. This summer we will undertake a similar renovaon in the Science rooms at HHS. We have done a large poron of this work through purposeful acons and a commitment to our strategic acon plan as directed by the Havre Board of Trustees. We are very proud of these accomplishments and believe that we have made lasng investments in our facilies.
All schools are required to follow Smart Snacks Guidelines. These guidelines support student health by reducing empty calories and increasing nutritious foods consumed throughout the day.

Help schools…
We have in that same me period been cognizant to not ask for increases to our general fund budget. This spring in order to maintain our current budget authority we will be asking our community to support a general fund levy at HHS. Due to declining enrollments at Havre High School we are unable to maintain our current budget authority without running an operaonal levy. HHS will actually realize an increase enrollment next year, but is funded on the current year’s enrollment. We will finalize the amount that will be requested at the March 10 school board meeng. Right now we believe the levy amount requested will be $97,827.00. I want to emphasize this amount is to keep Havre High School at the current budget authority. If this levy were to not pass, it would result in a decrease of that amount for the 2020-2021 school year. Running an operaonal levy is not something that we take lightly. We understand that in doing so, we are asking folks to vote an increase on their property taxes. We hope that by not running operaonal levees in previous years that our community understands we have only done so when we have reached a point that it is necessary to connue to provide instruconal services and maintain our current staffing. Please look for addional informaon regarding this request as the levy becomes finalized at the March meeng of the Havre Board of Trustees.
